Highgate Wood
Highgate Wood is a 28 hectare (70 acre) area of ancient woodland in North London, lying between East Finchley, Highgate Village, and Muswell Hill. It was originally part of the ancient Forest of Middlesex which covered much of London, Hertfordshire and Essex and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. It lies in the London Borough of Haringey, but is owned and managed by the City of London Corporation. The London Borough of Haringey contains four ancient woods.
A1000 road
The A1000 is a main road in the United Kingdom, running north from Highgate, North London for approximately 20 miles to Welwyn where it joins the A1(M) motorway. It incorporates part of the main medieval route out of London, and runs through Finchley, Whetstone, Chipping Barnet and Monken Hadley. After leaving Greater London, it passes through Potters Bar, then it skirts Brookmans Park and Welham Green before entering Hatfield, after the A1001 road has split.
Highpoint I
Highpoint I was the first of two apartment blocks erected in the 1930s on one of the highest points in London, England at Highgate. The architectural design was by Russian-born architect Berthold Lubetkin, the structural design by Danish engineer Ove Arup and the construction by Kier. Highpoint I was built in 1935 for the entrepreneur Sigmund Gestetner, but was never used for its intended purpose of housing staff of the Gestetner company.

St Pancras and Islington Cemetery in East Finchley, North London while situated in the London Borough of Barnet is actually two cemeteries, owned by two other London Boroughs, Camden and Islington. The fence along the boundary which runs west to east between the two parts of the cemetery has been removed, although the line of it is still marked.

Finchley Common was an area of land in Middlesex, and until 1816 the boundary between the parishes of Finchley, Friern Barnet and Hornsey.
Market Place, Finchley
Market Place is a road in Finchley, north London. It was the site of the largest pig market in Middlesex, founded in the late 17th Century. Pigs would be fattened on grain left over from London's gin distilleries before being sold on to London butchers. In the 19th Century the market declined in importance and was only held once a week, and towards the end of the century was reduced to occasional auctions. From the earliest days, the market had a reputation for squalor and immorality.
Highgate Wood telephone exchange
The Highgate Wood Telephone Exchange was a telephone exchange built in the London suburb of Highgate Wood. It was the site of a trial for an electronic telephone exchange built by members from Joint Electronic Research Council (JERC), which was formed in 1956 and consisted of the British Post Office GPO, Siemens Brothers & Co. (soon to be part of AEI), Automatic Telephone & Electric Co. Ltd AT&E (soon to be part of Plessey), The British Ericsson Telephones Ltd. , General Electric Co.
Finchley Lido
Finchley Lido is a leisure complex at grid reference TQ266911, just east of the suburb of North Finchley in the London Borough of Barnet. Currently there is a swimming pool and leisure centre, cinema, several food restaurants, bowling facilities and large amount of car parking spaces. Finchley Lido is extremely popular with the local population of Finchley at weekends, as it is one of the only cinema complexes in this area of North London.
Cherry Tree Wood
Cherry Tree Wood is a 5.3 hectare park in East Finchley in the London Borough of Barnet. It is a Site of Local Importance for Nature Conservation. Located next to East Finchley tube station, it contains woodland and grassland, a playground, tennis courts, a cafe and toilets. Its history may date back to prehistoric times, and the park was part of the hunting grounds of the Bishop of London in the 12th century.
East Finchley Cemetery
East Finchley Cemetery is a cemetery and crematorium in East End Road, East Finchley in the London Borough of Barnet. The facilities are owned and managed by the City of Westminster. The St Marylebone Burial Board purchased 47 acres of Newmarket Farm in 1854; and the cemetery, then known as St Marylebone Cemetery, was laid out by architects Barnet & Brick Ltd. the following year with an Anglican Grade II listed chapel. Principal features are two Lebanon Cedar trees planted on the front lawn.
Glebelands Local Nature Reserve
Glebelands is Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade I, in Colney Hatch in the London Borough of Barnet. It is also part of the Coppett's Wood and Glebelands Local Nature Reserve. It is the largest surviving fragment of the habitat of the old Finchley Common. The site is mostly wooded with areas of tall scrub and grassland, and there are numerous streams and seasonal small ponds. The main trees are hawthorn, oak, ash and silver birch.
St James' Church, Muswell Hill
St James Church, Muswell Hill is a large Anglican church in London, known as "the Church on the Hill". The original building was consecrated in 1842, and a church school was completed nearby in 1850. The foundation stone for the current building was laid in 1900. The building was gutted by World War II bombing, and the restored church was rededicated in 1952.
Belvedere Court
Belvedere Court is a residential block of fifty six flats in Lyttelton Road, East Finchley, North London, England. It was designed by the architect Ernst Ludwig Freud and built by H Meckhonik, a London-based contractor in 1937/38. It is a fine example of 'moderne' design and is characterized by streamline pavilion windows, stone bands and a number of other architectural features which are typical of the period. Belvedere Court received its Grade II listing in 1999.
Lyttelton Playing Fields
Lyttelton Playing Fields is a 9 hectare public park in Hampstead Garden Suburb in the London Borough of Barnet. It is one of Barnet's 'Premier Parks'. Most of the site is a large grassed area which can be used for cricket and football, and there are also a children's playground, tennis courts, multisport basketball and football courts, a private bowls club and toilets.
Athlone House (formerly Caen Wood Towers), Highgate
Athlone House in Highgate, England was formerly known as Caen Wood Towers and was the residence of several prominent London men during the period between 1870 and 1940. It is currently in a state of disrepair and is awaiting restoration by the current owners. It was designed by Edward Salomons and John Philpot in a Victorian style which reflects a variety of architectural traditions. It lies on the northern edge of Hampstead Heath and is visible from several parts of the Heath.
Ambitious about Autism
Ambitious about Autism is a UK national charity dedicated to improving opportunities for young people on the Autistic Spectrum, including those with autism or Asperger Syndrome. Originally established in 1997 as the TreeHouse Trust, the charity was founded by a group of parents - including author Nick Hornby - whose children had been diagnosed with autism.
