Newport Ship

The Newport Ship is a fifteenth-century sailing vessel discovered by archaeologists in June 2002 in the city of Newport, South Wales. It was found on the west bank of the River Usk, which runs through the city centre, during the building of the Riverfront Arts Centre; from which process it sustained some damage. It is also known as Newport Medieval Ship. The ship was originally around 80 feet long, making it quite capable of continental voyages.

Newport railway station

Newport railway station is the third-busiest railway station in Wales, situated in Newport city centre. TJ's was a nightclub located on Clarence Place in Newport, South Wales. It opened in 1985 and became a live music venue, particularly for rock music. It was an integral part of the so-called toilet circuit. The club advertised itself as "The Legendary TJ's". Newport City footbridge

The Newport City footbridge is a pedestrian/cycle bridge over the River Usk in the city of Newport, United Kingdom. The bridge links the east bank of the river in the vicinity of Colne Street in Maindee to a new public space called Usk Place/University Plaza on the west bank. It is the first major public project in Newport Unlimited's plans to regenerate the city.

Cambrian Centre

The Cambrian Centre is a small shopping centre in Newport city centre, South Wales. Among other units, it houses a Somerfield and one of the city's Wetherspoon's public houses, the John Wallace Linton and a NCP car park. A planning application was approved by Newport City Council for an £87 million redevelopment and refurbishment to be known as City Spires but it was mothballed in 2008 before construction started. An alternative redevelopment plan was due to start in 2012.

Friars Walk, Newport

Friars Walk is a projected shopping centre in Newport city centre. The original £222m scheme was intended to cover an area bounded by Kingsway, Upper Dock Street and the existing Kingsway Shopping Centre, including parts of John Frost Square and the bus station. A key feature of the development was to bring together Newport's riverfront and commercial centre, allowing people to walk easily between the two areas, extending to the east bank of the river by means of the Newport City footbridge.

Great Western Railway Usk bridge

The Great Western Railway Usk bridge http://www. geograph. org. uk/photo/39611 is a crossing of the River Usk in Newport city centre, Wales. It carries the Great Western Main Line across the river in an east—west direction. The original wooden structure was constructed by the South Wales Railway in 1848, but just as the final arch was being put into place on 31 May, a heated bolt ignited chemicals used to preserve the wood and a catastophic fire destroyed most of the structure.

Newport City Live Arena is a large grade-II listed building in the city of Newport, Wales. It is located in Clarence Place on the east side of Newport city centre near Newport Bridge. The building is one of the only true examples of Art deco architecture in Newport. Opened in March 1938, it was originally an Odeon cinema, designed by Harry Weedon. The cinema closed in 1981, fell derelict in the following years and was facing the possibility of demolition.
