While deriving its name Golders Green from the suburb of the same name, it is not adjacent to Golders Green. It was built by the Laing company after the Handley Page factory and aerodrome closed in 1929.

It is a large area of mown grass with a children's playground, bordered by thick hedges. Clitterhouse Stream (or Clitterhouse Brook), a tributary of the River Brent, runs along its eastern border.

Basing Hill Park
Basing Hill Park is a small public park in Childs Hill in the London Borough of Barnet. Together with the neighbouring Childs Hill Park it is one of Barnet's 'Premier Parks'. The area was open fields until the 1920s, when it was developed for housing, and in 1936 the ground was laid out as a park to serve the local people. There is access from Wayside and Hendon Way.
