Kensington High Street

Kensington High Street is the main shopping street in Kensington, Central London. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. Kensington High Street is the continuation of Kensington Road and part of the A315. It starts by the entrance to Kensington Palace and runs westward through central Kensington. Linley Sambourne House

Linley Sambourne House is the former London home of the Victorian Punch cartoonist Edward Linley Sambourne. It is now open to the public as a museum known as 18 Stafford Terrace. From 1874, Sambourne and his family lived in a typical newly-built Kensington town house, at 18 Stafford Terrace in Holland Park. After his death in 1910 and that of his wife Marion in 1914 it was inherited by their son Roy who kept it largely unchanged (including furniture and decoration) until his own death in 1946.

Aubrey House is situated on Campden Hill. The street called Campden Hill runs from Campden Hill Road to Holland Park. It was built on part of the grounds of the former Bute House. Bute House was built c.1812, and was named after the second Marquess of Bute who lived there from 1830 until 1842.

Derry & Toms was a London department store. The company dates back to the 1860s, when Joseph Toms, a store proprietor joined forces with his brother-in-law, Charles Derry.
