Santa Sabina

Pyramid of Cestius

The Pyramid of Cestius (in Italian, Piramide di Caio Cestio or Piramide Cestia) is an ancient pyramid in Rome, Italy, near the Porta San Paolo and the Protestant Cemetery. It stands at a fork between two ancient roads, the Via Ostiensis and another road that ran west to the Tiber along the approximate line of the modern Via della Marmorata. Due to its incorporation into the city's fortifications, it is today one of the best-preserved ancient buildings in Rome.

The earliest known bridge of ancient Rome, Italy, the Pons Sublicius, spanned the Tiber River near the Forum Boarium ("cattle forum") downstream from the Tiber Island, near the foot of the Aventine Hill. According to tradition, its construction was ordered by Ancus Marcius around 642 BC, but this date is approximate because there is no ancient record of its construction.

The Porta Trigemina was one of the main gates in the ancient 4th century Servian Wall of Rome, Italy. The gate no longer exists, but it is frequently mentioned by ancient authors as standing between the north end of the Aventine Hill and the Tiber River, it is presumed near the Forum Boarium. It is presumed that its name (which means "triple uniting") refers to its triple gateway to accommodate heavy traffic that passed into the city from the Via Ostiensis.

Santa Prisca

Santa Prisca is a basilica church in Rome, devoted to Saint Prisca, a 1st century martyr, on the Aventine hill. It was built in the 4th or 5th century over a temple of Mithras, and is recorded as the Titulus Priscae in the acts of the 499 synod. Damaged in the Norman Sack of Rome, the church was restored several times. The current aspect is due to the 1660 restoration, which included a new facade by Carlo Lombardi. In the interior, the columns are the only visible remains of the ancient church.

Fontana delle Anfore

The 'Fontana delle Anfore', located in the Piazza dell'Emporio, near the Ponte Sublicio, in Rome, Italy. It was completed in 1927, by Pietro Lombardi after he won a competition the municipality of Rome set in 1924 for new local fountains. Horrea Galbae

The Horrea Galbae were warehouses in the southern part of ancient Rome, located between the southern end of the Aventine Hill and the waste dump of Monte Testaccio. They ran for a substantial distance, possibly extending as far as the Porta Ostensis in the east and the Porticus Aemilia on the banks of the Tiber. The horrea were probably built on the site of a suburban villa owned by the Sulpicii Galbae, a distinguished noble family of whom the 1st century AD Roman Emperor Galba was a member.

Piramide (Rome Metro)

Piramide is a station on Line B of the Rome Metro. It was opened on 10 February 1955 and is sited on Piazzale Ostiense (across which is the Pyramid of Cestius that gives the station its name) just outside Porta San Paolo, in the Ostiense quarter. Its atrium houses mosaics that have won the Artemetro Roma by Enrico Castellani and Beverly Pepper. The station has escalators.

The baths were damaged during the 410 sack of Rome by Alaric I, and again restored in 414. The baths probably served a more affluent community than the Baths of Caracalla, but were smaller and probably more elegant.

Santa Maria del Priorato

The Church of Our Lady of the Priory (Italian: Santa Maria del Priorato), can also be also known by its previous name of Our Lady on the Aventine (Italian: Santa Maria in Aventino). It is the priory church of the Priory of the Knights of Malta on the Aventine Hill in Rome. It is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. The original church was built in 939, when Odo of Cluny was given Alberic III's palace. The site was acquired by the Knights of Malta and in the 1550s, the church was rebuilt.
