Lazio is one of the 20 administrative regions of Italy, situated in the central peninsular section of the country. With about 5.7 million residents and a GDP of more than 170 billion euros, Lazio is the third most populated region of Italy, and has the second largest economy of the nation. The Alban Hills are the site of a quiescent volcanic complex in Italy, located 20 km southeast of Rome and about 24 kilometres north of Anzio. The dominant peak (but not the highest) is Monte Cavo at 950 m. There are two small calderas which contain lakes, Lago Albano and Lake Nemi. The rock of the hills is called Peperino (lapis albanus) a particular Tuff, a combination of ash and small rocks that is useful for construction, and provides a mineral-rich substrate for grape vines.
The Vatican Observatory (Specola Vaticana) is an astronomical research and educational institution supported by the Holy See. Originally based in the Roman College of Rome, its headquarters are now in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, and an observatory at the Mount Graham International Observatory in the United States. The Director of the Observatory is Father José Gabriel Funes an Argentinian Jesuit. Many distinguished scholars have worked at the Observatory.

Lake Albano is a small volcanic crater lake in the Alban Hills of Lazio, at the foot of Monte Cavo, 20 kilometres southeast of Rome. Overlooking it is Castel Gandolfo, where the Pope has a palace. It was known to the Roman Empire as Albanus Lacus. In its vicinity stood Alba Longa. The lake is the deepest, about 170 m, in Lazio.

After twelve years, on June 29, 1610 the first Mass was celebrated.

The Villa Aldobrandini is a villa in Frascati, Italy, property of the Aldobrandini family. Also known as Belvedere for its charming location overlooking the whole valley up to Rome. Vatican prelate Alessandro Rufini built the original villa in 1550. Pope Clement VIII gave nephew Cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini the villa in 1598 as a reward for his negotiations he had undertaken with France which resulted in the peace treaty of 1595 and for his role in annexing Ferrara to the Papal States.
Villa Rufinella, also called Villa Tuscolana, is a villa in Frascati, Italy. Villa Rufinella is situated highest of the villas on the hill above the town of Frascati. It was built by Alessandro Ruffini, bishop of Melfi, in 1578, but during its history, the proprietors have made changes in different parts of it. In 1773 the villa became property of the pope. Architect Luigi Vanvitelli, commissioned by the Jesuits, gave the building its present appearance.
Villa Lancellotti is a villa in Frascati, Italy, the nearest to the town centre. This villa was constructed in 1582 by Cardinal Bonanni. It was sold in 1617 to the banker Roberto Primo who constructed the 'teatro d'acqua' (water theatre) at the far end of the garden. The theatre is a direct copy of that at the nearby Villa Mondragone, for whom Primo acted as a banker. The clock, or 'orologio' was added in the nineteenth century while the villa was in the ownership of the Lancellotti family.

Also called Villa Bel Poggio, the Villa Sciarra was built in 1570 at the orders of Ottaviano Vestri. The portal gate of the gardens is to ascribe to Nicola Salvi. The main edifice of the villa was destroyed when Frascati was bombed by Americans on September 8, 1943. The gardens are now a public park.
Villa Grazioli is a villa in Frascati, Italy, now in Grottaferrata communal territory. It was built at the end of the 16th century by Cardinal Carafa, projected by architect Domenico Fontana. The villa was enlarged by the new property, the family Acquaviva of Aragon, of the House of Atri. In 1843 the Grazioli family bought the villa. In some rooms Agostino Ciampelli (1565-1630) pictured the villa with decoration works, the paintings show rural life and rustic scene.
Villa Sora is a villa in Frascati, Italy. This villa was built at the end of 16th century by Giacomo Boncompagni, duke of Sora, natural son of Pope Gregory XIII. In the central hall there are painted fresco decorations of Cavalier D'Arpino(17th century). Frescos by Flemish artists are in two lodges, opposite the villa. The villa nowadays houses a school of the Salesians.

The Villa Torlonia in Frascati is a villa belonging to the Torlonia family in Frascati, Italy. The land on which the villa was built originally belonged to the Abbey of Grottaferrata, which donated it in 1563 to Annibal Caro, who commissioned a small villa where he spent the last years of his life, translating the Aeneid. (In 1896, Prince Leopoldo Torlonia placed a memorial stone to remember this event.

World Youth Day 2000 was a Catholic youth festival held from August 15–20 2000 in Rome, Italy. The international level celebration of World Youth Day in 2000 was meant to coincide with the Jubilee Year proclaimed by Pope John Paul II, to celebrate 2000 years since the birth of Jesus Christ. This is also reflected in the theme for the celebrations. This marks the first World Youth Day in Rome where the final closing Mass was not held at Saint Peter's Square.
Church of the Gesu (Frascati)
Church of the Gesu is a Roman Catholic church in Frascati, in the province of Rome, in Italy. The church was originally built in 1520. In 1554 the city began the construction of the present church, but did not complete it. In 1560 the Jesuits took possession of the site and completed it by 1597, calling it the church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary. In 1694 the Jesuits decided to expand the church and completed the new church by 1700.
