EUR, Rome

EUR is a residential and business district in Rome, Italy located south of the city centre. The area was originally chosen in 1930s as the site for the 1942 world's fair which Benito Mussolini planned to open to celebrate twenty years of Fascism; the letters EUR standing for Esposizione Universale Roma. The project was originally called E42 after the year in which the exhibition was planned to be held.

The Sack of Rome on 6 May 1527 was a military event carried out by the mutinous troops of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor in Rome, then part of the Papal States. EUR Magliana is a railway station in Rome served by the Metro line B and the Ferrovia Roma-Lido in the EUR or Europa district of Rome. Laurentina is the southern terminus of Line B of the Rome Metro. It is located in the Giuliano Dalmata quarter at the crossroads of via Laurentina and via di Vigna Murata. Olympic Velodrome, Rome

The Olympic Velodrome was a sports venue located in Rome, Italy. Constructed for the 1960 Summer Olympics, it hosted the track cycling and field hockey events. The velodrome was constructed between 1957 and early 1960. Soon after it was built problems were found, as water was draining away the foundations on one side of the velodrome. Concrete was injected into the foundations, which solved the problem only temporarily.
