Metropolitan Borough of Poplar
Poplar was a local government district in the metropolitan area of London, England. It was formed as a district of the Metropolis in 1855 and became a metropolitan borough in the County of London in 1900. It comprised the civil parishes of Bow, Bromley and Poplar until 1907, when it also became a civil parish. In 1965 the parish and borough were abolished, with their former area becoming part of the newly formed London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
Lansbury Estate
The Lansbury Estate is a public housing estate in the Poplar area of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets named after George Lansbury, a Poplar councillor and Labour party MP. It is one of the largest such estates in London. It occupies an area bounded by the East India Dock Road to the south, the Docklands Light Railway to the east and the Limehouse Cut to the north-west.
Limehouse Cut
The Limehouse Cut is a straight, broad canal in the East End of London, England, which linked the lower reaches of the Lee Navigation to the River Thames. It now connects to Limehouse Basin as a result of changes made in 1968. The Cut turns in a broad curve from Bow Locks, where the Lee Navigation meets Bow Creek; it then proceeds directly south-west for 2 miles through the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to Limehouse Basin.
Tower Hamlets Cemetery
Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park is a closed, historic cemetery located in the East End of London. The cemetery opened in 1841 and closed for burials in 1966. It is now a nature reserve, and other land has been added to the park, including "Scrapyard Meadow". It was originally named The City of London and Tower Hamlets Cemetery but was called Bow Cemetery by locals. Tower Hamlets Cemetery was formally consecrated by the Bishop of London previous to its being opened for the reception of bodies.
Bow Road railway station
Bow Road railway station was in Bow, London on the opposite side of Bow Road from Bow Road tube station. It was opened on the south side of Bow Road in 1876 by the Great Eastern Railway, between Stratford station and the now closed Burdett Road station. It was resited in 1892 to the north side of Bow Road, It closed on 7 November 1949. The station building and platforms remain on the east side of the railway viaduct in Bow Road.
Three Mills
The Three Mills are former working mills on the River Lea in the East End of London, one of London’s oldest extant industrial centres. The largest and most powerful of the four remaining tidal mills is possibly the largest tidal mill in the world. It is mainly accessed by a bridge over the Limehouse Cut and River Lea. The River Lea Tidal Mill Trust Ltd owns the House Mill and the Miller's House buildings, which are used for educational projects and as conference spaces.
Kingsley Hall
Kingsley Hall is a community centre in the East End of London. It dates back to the work of Doris Lester and Muriel Lester, who had a nursery school in nearby Bruce Road. Their brother, Kingsley Lester, died aged 26 in 1914, leaving money for work in the local area for "educational, social and recreational" purposes, with which the Lesters bought and converted a disused chapel. The current Hall was built on Powis Road, with a stone-laying ceremony taking place on July 14, 1927.

Under the Whyte notation for the classification of steam locomotives, 2-2-0 represents the wheel arrangement of two leading wheels on one axle, two powered driving wheels on one axle, and no trailing wheels. This configuration, which became very popular during the 1830s, was commonly called the Planet type after the first locomotive, Robert Stephenson's Planet of 1830.
Bow Quarter
The Bow Quarter is a gated community in Bow in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The building was originally the Bryant and May match factory, and was the site of the Match Girls' strike in the 1880s. The factory was redeveloped in the 1980s, in one of east London's first urban renewal projects.
Bob's Park
Bob's Park is next to Kingsley Hall and forms part of the Bromley by Bow Centre in the East End of London. In 1993 it was shown on Land Registry maps as Bromley Recreation Ground and was later renamed by local people after the park keeper, Robert Grenfell. It was also known as Grace Street Park.
Bromley by Bow Centre
The Bromley by Bow Centre is a community centre in Bromley-by-Bow, in the East End of London. It was founded by Andrew Mawson in 1984 with the aim of transforming the local community. Over the years, the Centre has grown to encompass a GP surgery, church, nursery, children's centre, community facilities and a cafe. It is the site of the UK's first Healthy Living Centre, and around 2,000 people use the Centre each week.
Bow railway station
Bow railway station was a railway station in Bow, London on the North London Railway, between Old Ford and South Bromley. It was situated on the north side of Bow Road, very close to Bow Road railway station, which is now also closed. The original station opened in 1850 but was replaced by a much grander station in 1870, which incorporated a concert hall, 100 feet long and 40 feet wide.
Bow Church
Bow Church is the parish church of St Mary and Holy Trinity, Stratford, Bow. It is located on an island site in Bow Road (part of the A11), in Bow, London Borough of Tower Hamlets. There has been a church on the same site for approximately 700 years. The church was bombed in the Second World War, and the bell tower was reconstructed just after the war.
William Bridges Adams
William Bridges Adams (1797 – 23 July 1872) was an author, inventor and locomotive engineer. He is best known for his patented Adams Axle — a successful radial axle design in use on railways in Britain until the end of steam traction in 1968 — and the railway fishplate. His writings, including English Pleasure Carriages (1837) and Roads and Rails (1862) covered all forms of land transport.
South Bromley railway station
South Bromley railway station was a former railway station in Bromley-by-Bow, London, on the North London Railway between Bow and Poplar (East India Dock Road). It opened in 1884 but was closed in 1944 after bomb damage in the Blitz cut off the railway east of Dalston Junction. The station never re-opened and was completely demolished when the line was redeveloped as the Docklands Light Railway in the 1980s.
Bromley Hall
Bromley Hall is an early Tudor period manor house in Bow, Tower Hamlets, London. Located on the Blackwall Tunnel northern approach road, it is now owned and restored by Leaside Regeneration.
Devons Road
Devons Road is a road in the East End of London. Part of the B140 road, it gives its name to the Devons Road DLR station.
London International School of Performing Arts
The London International School of Performing Arts was founded in 2003 by Thomas Prattki - the former pedagogical director of the Jacques Lecoq International School of Theatre (Ecole Jacques Lecoq) in Paris. The physical theatre school is based on the work of Jacques Lecoq, however is fast distinguishing itself as a viable physical theatre training program.
Bow Road
Bow Road is a thoroughfare in Bow, Tower Hamlets, London, England. The road forms part of the A11, running from Aldgate to Norwich in Norfolk. To the west the road becomes Mile End Road, and to the east at the Bow Interchange roundabout, there is a junction with the A12. The College of Technology London is located on the road, as is Bow Church, and the Lea Valley Walk passes it near to Three Mills.
House Mill
The House Mill is a major Grade I listed building on the River Lea in Bromley-by-Bow, London. Although the Three Mills date back to the Domesday book, the present house mill was rebuilt in 1776 by Daniel Bisson. It was damaged by fire in 1802, and then rebuilt by Philip Metcalfe. It is one of only four grade I listed buildings in the London Borough of Newham. The House Mill remains the "largest tidal mill left standing in Britain", although the water wheels are not in operation.

Bow railway works was at Bow, an area of London, England, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It was built in 1853 by the North London Railway. Bow railway works was built by the North London Railway in 1853 on a 10-acre site which also included a sizeable wagon repair shop, under the direction of William Adams the locomotive superintendent.

Spratt's Complex
The Spratt's Complex in Poplar is an old pet food factory that has been converted into approximately 150 live/work units. It was one of the first warehouse conversions in London. It is situated on Morris Road between the DLR stations of Langdon Park and Devons Road. The complex is called after the old Spratt's dog biscuit factory. Much of the original markings are visible on the buildings, with names painted on the DLR track-side walls, and on the small chimney visible from Morris Road.
