The Freedom Press is an anarchist publishing house in Whitechapel, London, United Kingdom. Founded in 1886, it is the largest anarchist publishing house in the nation and the oldest of its kind in the English speaking world. It is based at 84b Whitechapel High Street in the East End of London. Alongside its many books and pamphlets, the group also publish a fortnightly newspaper, Freedom, which is the only regular anarchist newspaper published nationally in the UK.

The foundry is listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest manufacturing company in Great Britain. The rampART was a squatted social centre in the Whitechapel area of east London, England. It was established in a derelict building in Rampart Street which was previously used as an Islamic school for girls. The centre run as a private members club providing a space for a wide-range of groups to carry out their activities. Like all such projects, it is managed by volunteers without any funding and with a strong emphasis on consensus decision making and DIY culture.

Wool House

Wool House is a grade II listed Victorian wool warehouse at 74 Backchurch Lane, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It was originally five storeys tall, and spanned a total of 137,455 square feet . An additional floor was constructed on the roof in the early 2000s, creating an additional 12,000 square feet of floorspace. The warehouse is one of two that were constructed on Backchurch lane in the late 1880s for Browne & Eagle, a wool storage firm.

Garrick Theatre (Leman St)

The Garrick Theatre, also known as Garrick's Subscription was a small theatre located in Leman St, Whitechapel. The theatre opened in 1831, and closed in about 1881. The theatre was named for the actor, David Garrick, who had made his début at the nearby Goodman's Fields Theatre on 9 October 1741, playing the role of Richard III. The performance on 11 May 1840 was Marie! and Virginius the Rum’un!, from an existent playbill.

Fieldgate Street Great Synagogue

Fieldgate Street Great Synagogue, located at 41 Fieldgate Street in the East End of London, was established in 1899. In 1950 it was rebuilt after damaged caused by a German air raid during WWII. St George's German Lutheran Church

St George's German Lutheran Church is a church in Alie Street, Whitechapel. From its founding in 1762 until 1996 it was used by German Lutherans. It then became the headquarters of the Historic Chapels Trust. The church is still used for organ recitals. St George's was the fifth Lutheran church to be built in London. It is now the oldest surviving German Lutheran church in the UK. At the time, the street was called "Little Ayliffe Street" and the area was called "Goodman's Fields".

Leman Street railway station

Leman Street railway station was a station in the parish of Whitechapel in London, England. It was opened by the Great Eastern Railway in 1877, on the main line from Fenchurch Street to Blackwall. It was closed as a wartime economy measure in 1916, reopened in 1919, and closed finally in 1941 along with neighbouring Shadwell railway station. Trains now run directly from Fenchurch Street to Limehouse without stopping.

Altab Ali Park

Altab Ali Park is a small park on Adler Street, White Church Lane and Whitechapel High Street, London E1; formerly known as St. Mary's Park it is the site of the old 14th Century white chapel, St. Mary Matfelon, from which the area of Whitechapel gets its name. Having been destroyed in The Blitz in 1940, all that remains of the old church is the floor plan and a few graves.
