Roman London was established around 43 AD. It served as a major commercial centre for the Roman Empire until its abandonment during the 5th century. The name "Londinium" is thought to be pre-Roman in origin. Following its foundation in the mid-1st century, early Roman London occupied a relatively small area, roughly equivalent in size to Hyde Park at 350 acres .

St Stephen Walbrook
St Stephen, Walbrook is a church in the City of London, part of the Church of England's Diocese of London. The present domed building was erected to the designs of Sir Christopher Wren following the destruction of its medieval predecessor in the Great Fire of London in 1666. It is located in Walbrook, next to the Mansion House, and near to Bank and Monument Underground stations.
Poultry Compter (also sometimes known as Poultry Counter) was a small compter, or prison, run by a Sheriff of the City of London from medieval times until 1815. It took its name from its location on a section of Cheapside called Poultry, from the produce that was once sold in street markets along the thoroughfare.
St Mildred, Poultry
St Mildred, Poultry was a parish church in the Cheap ward, of the City of London. It was rebuilt after the Great Fire of London and demolished in 1872. St Mildred in the Poultry was the burial place of the writer Thomas Tusser. Some description of the church and its monuments is given in John Stow's Survey of London.
St Christopher le Stocks
St Christopher le Stocks was a parish church on the south side of Threadneedle Street in the Broad Street Ward of the City of London. Of medieval origin, it was demolished in 1781 to make way for an extension of the neighbouring Bank of England.
