Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake

The Royal Liverpool Golf Club is a leading golf club in Merseyside in North West England. It was founded in 1869 on what was then the racecourse of the Liverpool Hunt Club, and received the "Royal" designation in 1871 due to the patronage of the Duke of Connaught of the day, who was one of Queen Victoria's younger sons. Robert Chambers and George Morris (younger brother of Old Tom Morris) were commissioned to lay out the original Hoylake course, which was extended to 18 holes in 1871.

West Kirby railway station

West Kirby railway station is situated in the town of West Kirby, Wirral, England. It is situated at the end of one of the branches of the Wirral Line, part of the Merseyrail network. The beach can be reached easily from the station. The station was originally built in 1878 as the terminus of the Wirral Railway's route from Birkenhead Park station. Through services via the Mersey Railway Tunnel to Liverpool commenced in 1938, when the London Midland and Scottish Railway electrified the line.

Hoylake railway station

Hoylake railway station serves the town of Hoylake, Wirral, England. It lies on the West Kirby branch of the Wirral Line, part of the Merseyrail network. It is in the art deco style with a circular clerestory over the booking hall and after the 1938 rebuild, became a Grade II Listed Building in 1988. The sign currently on display in front of the station was recently restored during a renovation. The station also offers free car parking facilities at all times.

Kirby Park railway station

Kirby Park railway station was a station on the single track Hooton to West Kirby branch of the Birkenhead Railway, on the Wirral Peninsula, England. Originally considered an experimental station, it was constructed primarily of timber 800 metres to the south of the current West Kirby railway station and served largely as a school stop for the nearby Calday Grange Grammar School.

2006 Open Championship

The 2006 Open Championship was the 135th Open Championship, played from 20–23 July at Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Tiger Woods held off Chris DiMarco, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, and Sergio García for a two-shot victory. The win was his second consecutive Open Championship title and third overall. It was also Woods' first major tournament win since the death of his father, Earl Woods, in May. The purse was £4,000,000, and the winner received £720,000.

Hoylake and West Kirby War Memorial

The Hoylake and West Kirby War Memorial is a 14.5-metre-high, granite four-sided obelisk which stands on Grange Hill, West Kirby, Merseyside. It was designed by British sculptor Charles Sargeant Jagger (1885-1934), who also designed the Royal Artillery Memorial at Hyde Park Corner in London. It commemorates the men and women of West Kirby and Hoylake who gave their lives in World Wars I and II. On two sides of the obelisk stand bronze figures symbolising war and peace.

The 1967 Open Championship was the 96th Open Championship, played from 12–15 July at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake. Roberto De Vicenzo, 44, won his only major championship, two strokes ahead of runner-up Jack Nicklaus. This was the last year until 1986 in which The Open had a single cut at 36 holes. From 1968 through 1985, a second cut was made after 54 holes.

The 2012 Ricoh Women's British Open was held 13–16 September at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Merseyside, England. It was the 37th Women's British Open, and the 12th as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. It was scheduled later in the year due to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Jiyai Shin won her second Women's British Open, nine strokes ahead of runner-up Inbee Park. Weather was a factor, as the second round on Friday was halted before 8:30 a.m. due to high winds.
