Gwernymynydd is a small community in the market town of Mold, or Yr Wyddgrug in Flintshire, Wales. At its highest point it is one thousand feet above sea level. The Milwr Tunnel is a mine drainage adit running some 10 miles from the hamlet of Cadole near Loggerheads, Denbighshire to Bagillt on the Dee Estuary in North Wales. It was originally built to drain the lead mines beneath Halkyn Mountain, which were plagued with flooding in their lower levels, but enabled the exploitation of new lodes and was variously used for the extraction of lead, zinc and limestone during its working history.

Mold Castle

Mold Castle, on Bailey Hill in the town of Mold, Flintshire, Northeast Wales, was an earthwork motte and bailey fortress probably founded by Robert de Montalt around the year 1140. In 1147 it was captured by Owain Gwynedd. It switched hands on several occasions before a long period under Welsh control during the reign of Llywelyn ab Iorwerth. It remained a defensive structure up until the 13th century.

St John the Evangelist's Church, Mold, was a Welsh church in King Street, Mold, Flintshire, North Wales. It is now redundant as a church; it has been divided and is used as a church hall. It is a Grade II listed building. The church was built in 1878 to 1879 to a design by the Chester architect John Douglas. It is in brown rubble stone with dressings of red Helsby sandstone and a red-tiled roof. The interior is broad, without aisles.

Moel y Gaer, Rhosesmor

Moel y Gaer (Welsh for "bald hill of the fortress") is a prehistoric hill fort located on a summit at the southern end of Halkyn Mountain, overlooking the village of Rhosesmor, Flintshire, Wales. Excavations suggest that the site was occupied, perhaps sporadically, from the Neolithic period to sometime before the Roman conquest of the area. Remains of a timber long house on the hill summit have been dated to the third millennium BC and may represent the earliest human occupation of the region.

Flintshire Coalfield

The Flintshire Coalfield in north-east Wales is one of the smaller British coalfields. It extends from the Point of Ayr in the north, along the Dee Estuary through Connah's Quay to Caergwrle in the south. A small part extends onto the Wirral i.e. English coast of the estuary at Neston which was the site of a coalmine for a period. The coal-bearing strata continue southwards of Caergwrle as the Denbighshire Coalfield. Together the two coalfields are known as the North Wales Coalfield.

Gwernaffield (or Gwernaffield-y-Waun) is a village and local government community in Flintshire, Wales. It lies about three miles west of Mold on the eastern side of the Clwydian Range. The community has an area of 7.53 km and is bordered by the River Alyn on three sides. The community includes the neighbouring village of Pantymwyn and had a population of 1,851 at the time of the 2001 census. The name of the village comes from gwern, feld and gwaun (Welsh for 'moorland').
