Črni Kal Viaduct
The Črni Kal Viaduct (Slovene: Viadukt Črni Kal) is the longest and the highest viaduct in Slovenia. It is located on the A1 motorway above the Osp Valley near the village of Gabrovica, about 20 kilometres east of Koper. It is named after the village of Črni Kal. The viaduct is 1,065 metres long and is mounted on 11 Y-shaped columns (its distinguishing feature), the highest reaching 87.5 m . The viaduct was designed by Janez Koželj and Marjan Pippenbaher, who was also its constructor.

The Civico Orto Botanico di Trieste (90 hectares, cultivated area 10,000 m²) is a municipal botanical garden located at via Marchesetti 2, Trieste, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. The garden was established in 1842 when the city first experimented with plantations of the Austrian black pine. By 1861 a botanical garden began to take shape with species collected from the Julian Alps in Istria and Dalmatia.
Foibe killings
The Foibe killings or Foibe massacres refers to the killings that took place mainly in Istria during and shortly after World War II from 1943 to 1949, perpetrated mainly by Yugoslav Partisans. The name derives from a local geological feature, a type of deep karst sinkhole called a foiba. The term includes by extension killings in other subterranean formations, such as the Basovizza "foiba", which is not a true foiba but a mine shaft.
