Montparnasse
Montparnasse is an area of Paris, France, on the left bank of the river Seine, centred at the crossroads of the Boulevard du Montparnasse and the Rue de Rennes, between the Rue de Rennes and boulevard Raspail. Montparnasse was absorbed into the capital's 14th arrondissement in 1669.
Gare Montparnasse
Paris Montparnasse is one of the six large Paris railway termini, in the XIVe arrondissement. It opened in 1840, and was rebuilt completely in 1969. A steam train crashed through the station in 1895; there is a well-known photograph of the event, and full scale reproductions outside a museum chain in South America.
Saint-Placide (Paris Métro)
Saint-Placide is a station on line 4 of the Paris Métro in the 6th arrondissement. The station was opened on 9 January 1910 as part of the connecting section of the line under the Seine between Châtelet and Raspail. The station, in the Montparnasse area, is after the Rue Saint-Placide, commemorating Saint Placid. It was opened on 9 January 1910 under the name of Vaugirard, but its name was changed on 15 November 1913 to avoid confusion with the Nord-Sud Company's Vaugirard, now on Line 12.
Montparnasse – Bienvenüe (Paris Métro)
Montparnasse — Bienvenüe is a station of the Paris Métro which is a transfer point between lines 4, 6, 12 and 13. It is the fourth busiest station on the metro system and is located in Montparnasse at the intersection of the 6th, 14th and 15th arrondissements.
Edgar Quinet (Paris Métro)
Edgar Quinet is a station of the Paris Métro serving line 6 at the intersection of the Boulevard Edgar-Quinet, the Rue du Montparnasse and the Rue de la Gaîté in the 14th arrondissement.
Duroc (Paris Métro)
Duroc is a station on lines 10 and 13 of the Paris Métro on the borders of the 6th, 7th and 15th arrondissement. The line 10 station was opened on 30 December 1923 as part of the first section of the ligne circulaire interieur (inner circular line) from Invalides to Croix Rouge (a station east of Sèvres - Babylone, which was closed during World War II).
Vaneau (Paris Métro)
Vaneau is a station on line 10 of the Paris Metro on the border of the 6th arrondissement and 7th arrondissements. The station was opened by the Compagnie du chemin de fer métropolitain de Paris on 30 December 1923 as part of the first section of the ligne circulaire interieur (inner circular line) from Invalides via Duroc to Croix Rouge (a station east of Sèvres - Babylone, which was closed during World War II).
Falguière (Paris Métro)
Falguière is a station on line 12 of the Paris Métro in the 15th arrondissement. The station opened on 5 November 1910 as part of the original section of the Nord-Sud Company's line A between Porte de Versailles and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. On 27 March 1931 line A became line 12 of the Métro. It is named after the Rue Falguière. Alexandre Falguière (1831–1890) was a French sculptor and painter. The Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital (the first paediatric hospital in the world) is nearby.
Gaîté (Paris Métro)
Gaîté is a station on line Line 13 of the Paris Métro in the 14th arrondissement. The station opened on 21 January 1937 as part of the original line 14 between Bienvenüe and Porte de Vanves. This line became part of line 13 on 9 November 1976.
Musée du Montparnasse
The Musée du Montparnasse is a museum at 21 Avenue du Maine, in the 15th arrondissement, Montparnasse Quarter of Paris, France. The museum opened its doors on May 28, 1998. Located at the former site of the early-1900s atelier of the Russian painter, Marie Vassilieff, the museum was founded by Roger Pic and Jean-Marie Drot as a nonprofit operation.
Le Sphinx

Dingo Bar
The Dingo American Bar and Restaurant at 10 rue Delambre in the Montparnasse Quarter of Paris, France opened its doors in 1923. Most commonly referred to as the Dingo Bar, it was one of the few drinking establishments at the time that was open all night. It became the favorite haunt of the many English-speaking artists and writers who gathered in Paris during the 1920s and 1930s. Bobino at 20 rue de la Gaîté, in the Montparnasse area of Paris, France, is a music hall theatre that has seen most of the biggest names of 20th century French music perform there. During its long history it was also known as Les Folies Bobino (1873), Studio Bobino (1991), Gaieté Bobino and Bobin’o (2007).
Collège Stanislas de Paris
Le Collège Stanislas de Paris is a private Catholic school in Paris, situated on "Rue Notre-Dame-des-Champs" in the Montparnasse arrondissement. It has approximately 3,000 students, from preschool to classes préparatoires (classes to prepare students for entrance to the elite Grandes écoles), and is the largest private school in France. Stanislas is one of the most prestigious French schools (3rd in 2011).
Institut supérieur d'électronique de Paris
ISEP, short for "Institut Supérieur d’Electronique de Paris," is a French Grande École located in Paris. It specializes in electronics, telecommunication and computer science. The school was founded in 1955 on the place where Edouard Branly, physics professor at the Catholic University of Paris, discovered the coherer in 1890. ISEP has three main departments (Electronics, Telecommunication, Information systems) and ten laboratories for teaching and research.
Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital
The Hôpital Necker – Enfants Malades (Necker Hospital – Hospital for sick children) is a French teaching hospital, located in Paris, France. It is an hospital of the Assistance publique - Hôpitaux de Paris group, and is affiliated to the University of Paris Descartes. It is historically the first paediatric hospital in the world.
Théâtre de la Gaîté-Montparnasse
The Théâtre de la Gaîté-Montparnasse is a venue situated at 26, rue de la Gaîté, in the Montparnasse quarter of Paris, in the 14th arrondissement. It opened in 1868 and seats 399 people.
Musée Hébert
The Musée Hébert is a museum located in the Hôtel de Montmorency-Bours at 85, rue du Cherche-Midi, in the VIe arrondissement of Paris, France. It has been closed since 2004 for renovations. The museum is housed within the Petit-Montmorency, constructed in 1743 by the Comte de Montmorency, and former home of academic painter Ernest Hébert (1817–1908). After his adopted son's death in 1974, the building became state property and opened as a museum in 1984.
Musée Jean Moulin
The Musée Jean Moulin is a museum located in the XIVe arrondissement at 23, Allée de la 2e DB, Jardin Atlantique, Paris, France. It is open daily except Mondays; admission is currently (2008) free of charge. The museum opened in 1994 to commemorate Jean Moulin, a major figure of the French Resistance, and the occupation of Paris during World War II.
Musée Bourdelle
The Musée Bourdelle is an art museum located at 18, rue Antoine Bourdelle, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, France. It is open daily, except Mondays. The nearest Paris Métro stations are Falguière and Montparnasse – Bienvenüe. The museum preserves the studio of sculptor Antoine Bourdelle (1861–1929), and provides an example of Parisian ateliers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was Bourdelle's active studio from 1885-1929.

Fontaine du Fellah
The Fontaine du Fellah, also known as the Egyptian Fountain, located at 52 rue de Sèvres in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, next to the entrance of the Vaneau metro station, was built in 1806 during the rule of Napoleon Bonaparte, in the neo-Egyptian style inspired by Napoleon's Egyptian campaign. It is the work of architect François-Jean Bralle and sculptor Pierre-Nicolas Beauvalet.
Jardin Atlantique
The Jardin Atlantique is a public park and garden located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, on the roof that covers the tracks and platforms of the Gare Montparnasse railway station. It has an area of 3.4 hectares. It was created by the landscape architects Brun, Penna and Schnitzler, and opened in 1994.

Montparnasse derailment
The Montparnasse derailment occurred at 4 pm on 22 October 1895 when the Granville–Paris Express overran the buffer stop at its Gare Montparnasse terminus. With the train several minutes late and the driver trying to make up for lost time, it entered the station too fast and the train air brake failed. After running through the buffer stop, the train crossed the station concourse and crashed through the station wall before falling onto the Place de Rennes below, where it stood on its nose.
