Redditch

Redditch is a town and local government district in north-east Worcestershire, England, approximately 15 miles south of Birmingham. The district had a population of 79,216 in 2005. In the 19th century it became the international centre for the needle and fishing tackle industry. At one point 90% of the world's needles were manufactured in the town and its neighbourhoods. In the 1960s it became a model for modern new town planning.

Bordesley Abbey

Bordesley Abbey was a 12th century Cistercian abbey near the town of Redditch, in Worcestershire, England. The abbey's foundation has been attributed to Queen Maud, but it is actually down to Waleran de Beaumont, Count of Meulan who gave the monks of Garendon Abbey in Leicestershire some more land. The Count's twin brother was the benefactor of Garendon. However, Empress Matilda did lay claim to being patron of Bordesley once de Beaumont surrendered to her in about 1141.

Palace Theatre, Redditch

The Palace Theatre is a theatre in Redditch, England, in a Grade II listed building, one of the six working theatres designed by Bertie Crewe. It opened in 1913. It is an example of Edwardian theatre and has received a major refurbishment restoring the theatre to its original state. Funds and grants were provided by Redditch Borough Council (£3M), and £920,500 as part of a £4 million scheme from The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Ipsley Court

Ipsley Court was a 16th century country house, much altered in the 18th and 20th centuries, situated at Ipsley, once Warwickshire, now since 1931, Worcestershire. It currently comprises two disconnected wings, both Grade II listed buildings. which are in commercial use. The Manor of Ipsley was held by the Huband family from Norman times. The house, originally comprising a central block and two wings to the north and south, was built for Sir John Huband Kt in the 16th century.
