Rudyard Lake

Rudyard Lake is a reservoir in Rudyard, Staffordshire. It was constructed in the late 1700s to feed the Caldon Canal. During the 1800s it was a popular destination for daytrippers taking advantage of easy access using the newly constructed North Staffordshire Railway. The lake is still used for many water activities such as boating, canoeing, fishing and also for walks and recreational steam train trips. It is famous for being the namesake of Rudyard Kipling.

Rudyard Lake Steam Railway

The Rudyard Lake Steam Railway is a minimum gauge railway and the third railway of any gauge to run along the side of Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire. The railway runs for 1.5 miles on the track bed of an old standard gauge North Staffordshire Railway line. After the NSR line closed down, a small narrow gauge train ran on the site for two years before moving via Suffolk to Trago Mills in Devon. The current line started in 1985 and is 10.25 gauge, and operates to a timetable.

Rushton railway station

Rushton railway station was a railway station that served the village of Rushton Spencer, Staffordshire. The station was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway in 1849 as part of the Churnet Valley line. {{#invoke:Footnotes|sfn}} It remained open until passenger services were withdrawn from the northern end of the Churnet valley line in 1960. {{#invoke:Footnotes|sfn}} Freight services lasted until 1964 when they too were withdrawn{{#invoke:Footnotes|sfn}} and the track lifted.

It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield, and the deanery of Macclesfield. Its benefice is combined with those of St Michael, North Rode, St Michael, Wincle, and St Saviour, Wildboarclough.

Bosley railway station

Bosley railway station served the village of Bosley, Cheshire. The station was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway in September 1849 as part of the Churnet Valley line. {{#invoke:Footnotes|sfn}} The station was some distance from the village which is was linked to by a footpath. To travel between the village and the station by road was a much longer journey.

Cliffe Park railway station

Cliffe Park railway station was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) in 1905 on the Churnet Valley line to attract visitors to Rudyard Lake (actually a reservoir), which the NSR were trying to develop as a leisure and tourist attraction including a golf course. {{#invoke:Footnotes|sfn}} The station was originally named Rudyard Lake and was at the northern end of the lake. There were no settlements nearby and consequently the station had no goods facilities.

Bosley Minn

Bosley Minn is one of two names – the other being Wincle Minn – given to a prominent hill in southeast Cheshire and in the southwestern corner of the Peak District National Park in northern England. The long axis of the Minn runs NNE–SSW and its broad summit, which reaches to 386 metres at its highest point, slopes away to the valley of the Shell Brook in the east and towards Bosley Reservoir in the west.
