Polesworth Abbey

Polesworth Abbey was a Benedictine nunnery in Polesworth, North Warwickshire, England. It was founded in the 9th century by St. Modwena and King Egbert. The first abbess was Edgytha (daughter of King Egbert, now St. Editha). The site of the Abbey is a Scheduled Ancient Monument although apart from the church and the gatehouse and the restored ruins of the cloister very little remains visible. The 12th century Abbey church, now the parish church of St Editha is a Grade I* listed building.

Alvecote Priory

Alvecote Priory is a ruined Benedictine Priory in Alvecote, Warwickshire, England. Now very little remains of the priory, most of the walls have been eroded but a fairly high wall remains on one side. The main entrance arch is the most impressive feature, still standing at around 20 feet high. It was founded 1159 by William Burdett as a dependency of Great Malvern Priory.

Shuttington

Shuttington is a village and civil parish in North Warwickshire, England, situated north-east of Tamworth, Staffordshire. In the 2001 census, the parish, which also includes Alvecote, had a population of 563. The River Anker flows through the parish, with Shuttington north-east of the river, and Alvecote south of it. The West Coast Main Line passes through Alvecote, with the Coventry Canal parallel to it and a marina south of the canal.

Alvecote Pools

Alvecote Pools is an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and nature reserve situated alongside the River Anker, adjacent to the hamlet of Alvecote on the border of Warwickshire and Staffordshire. The majority of the reserve lies in the former county. Consisting of two discrete areas, Pooley Fields and Alvecote Meadows, the site covers 128 ha in total and is the largest SSSI in Warwickshire. First notified in 1955, the site has been owned by the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust since 1997.
