A500 road
D road can also apply as a road designation under the Great Britain road numbering scheme The A500 is a major primary A road in Staffordshire and Cheshire, England. It is dual carriageway for most of its length and connects Nantwich, junctions 16 and 15 of the M6 motorway with the city of Stoke-on-Trent. Because its shape between the motorway junctions resembles that of a capital D, it is known locally as the D-Road (D is also the Roman numeral representing the number 500).

It was constructed as an annex to Hanley Town Hall in 1888 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. The building was constructed with red brick and terracotta. The original Grade II listed building seated 2800 people. The building has an organ and space for choir and orchestra with acoustics that are warm and well suited to classical music.

Stoke-on-Trent Garden Festival
The Stoke-on-Trent National Garden Festival was the second of Britain's National Garden Festivals. It was held in the city from 1 May to 26 October 1986, and was opened by the Queen. Preparation of the site involved the reclamation of land formerly occupied by the Shelton Bar steelworks (1830-1978), about two miles north-west of the city centre, between Hanley and Burslem. British Steel's Shelton Bar steel rolling mill remained in use, finally closing in 2000.

Etruria Hall
Etruria Hall in Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England was the home of the potter Josiah Wedgwood. It was built between 1768–1771 by Joseph Pickford. Etruria Hall was the site of the innovative research into photography by Thomas Wedgwood in the 1790s. There is a small commemorative plaque on the Hall. Due to financial difficulties, it was sold in the 1840s by Francis Wedgwood.
Spode Museum
The Spode Museum Trust was established in 1987, in order to protect the Spode Archive in perpetuity. The Spode Archive includes some 40,000 ceramic items spanning over 200 years from the late 18th Century to 2008. It also includes some 25,000 engraved copper plates from which transfer prints were made for printed ceramic wares.

The Regent Theatre is a theatre in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. It opened originally in 1929 as a super cinema and continued to be used as a cinema in various incarnations, originally as the Regent, under the ownership of Provincial Cinema Theatres, then as the Gaumont which was subsequently tripled, and finally as the Odeon, until its closure in 1989.
The Sugarmill
The Sugarmill, is a live music venue and nightclub situated in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England. The venue was opened in 1995 as The Stage before being renamed in 1999. It launched its main club night, 'Electric' in 1995. Towards the end of 2007 the roof of The Sugarmill was converted so that it could be opened up to the public, and now has toilets, a bar (with TV), seating and heated lamps.
Smallthorne Urban District
Smallthorne Urban District was an Urban district in Staffordshire. It was initially formed of the Smallthorne civil parish. In 1904 the Chell and Milton civil parishes were added. It was abolished in 1922 with the bulk of it becoming part of the county borough of Stoke-on-Trent. After absorption, the area of the UDC was divided into two wards for election of local councillors. Ward 27 covered Smallthorne, Bradeley, Norton-in-the-Moors, Ball Green, Fegg Hayes, and Brindley Ford.

The Underground is a club/music venue in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. It was also part of the NME group, Club NME. It is well known for holding host to several up & coming indie/rock/metal acts. It also serves as a great host to many local bands in the Staffordshire area. Its popular Monday nights are renowned for their cheap drink promotions and variation of music. However when the club first opened (& before it became part of NME) it was a rave music venue.

North Staffordshire Coalfield
The North Staffordshire Coalfield is an historic coalfield in the County of Staffordshire, England. The Coalfield emcompasses an area of nearly 100 square miles and that area is virtually wholly contained within the boundaries of the city of Stoke on Trent and the borough of Newcastle under Lyme. There are three other smaller coalfields which are associated with the North Staffs field and they are the tiny Shaffalong and Goldsitch Moss Coalfields near to Leek and the Cheadle Coalfield.
Potteries Shopping Centre
The Potteries Shopping Centre is an indoor shopping centre in Hanley, Stoke on Trent, in the Staffordshire Potteries. It is the major indoor shopping centre in the city. The town of Hanley is generally regarded as the commercial city centre of Stoke-on-Trent. Current plans are to give the Centre a multi-million pound expansion.
Hanley railway station
Hanley railway station was built by the North Staffordshire Railway as part of the Potteries Loop Line and served the town of Hanley, Staffordshire, England. The original station opened along with the first section of the Loop in 1864, but when the latter reached Burslem in 1873, a new station was built on a sharp curve in a cutting below Trinity Street. The old station remained in use for goods traffic.
The Old Recreation Ground
The Old Recreation Ground was a football stadium, located in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent and home to Port Vale for almost 40 years. The Rec had been Vale's home between 1913 and 1950 and was the sixth ground the club used.
Water World, Stoke-on-Trent
WaterWorld attracts 400,000 visitors per year. The park first opened in 1989 and is generally open year round, but is closed for a few days of the week during term time. Some of the park's most popular rides include: Black Hole, Nucleus, Space Bowl, Super Flume and Twister.
Fenton Manor railway station
Fenton Manor railway station was a station in the Fenton area of Stoke-on-Trent, opened in 1889 by the North Staffordshire Railway on its line to Leek. It was located on Victoria Road and was one of two stations in the area, the other being Fenton on the Stoke-Derby Line. The station closed in 1956. The track is still in situ and although the buildings have gone, the platform edges can still be traced.
Cobridge railway station
Cobridge railway station was located on the Potteries Loop Line and served the Cobridge area of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. The station was located between Elder Road and Sandbach Road. The station closed in 1964 when the passenger service on the Loop was withdrawn. The trackbed is now a footpath and the tunnel, which was to the south of the station, has been filled in.
Waterloo Road (NSR) railway station
Waterloo Road Railway Station was built by the North Staffordshire Railway as part of on the Potteries Loop Line and served the north of the town of Hanley, Staffordshire. The station opened in 1873 and closed to passengers in 1943. General goods traffic remained until 1966 with oil traffic continuing until 1969 No trace of the station remains today, the station was at the road crossing on Waterloo Road between Hanley and Cobridge.
Eastwood Hanley F.C
Eastwood Hanley F.C. was a football club based in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. They were founder members of the North West Counties Football League, finished runners in Division Two in 1984, gaining promotion to the Northern Premier League in 1987. They folded in 1997 due to dimishing gate receipts and being forced out of their home ground by regular vandalism to their club house.
Bethesda Methodist Chapel, Hanley
Bethesda Methodist Chapel, Hanley, is a redundant chapel standing at the corner of Albion Street in Hanley, Staffordshire, England. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Historic Chapels Trust. The building has been known as the "Cathedral of the Potteries", and "it was one of the largest and most ornate Methodist town chapels surviving in the UK".
County Ground, Stoke-on-Trent
The County Ground was a cricket ground in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The ground, located at Victoria Road, was situated close to Fenton Manor railway station and the North Staffordshire Railway which it served.
Hanley Park
Hanley Park is an urban park in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Officially opened on 20 June 1897, it occupies about 63 acres of land. The area previously comprised a large waste ground called 'Stoke Fields', cut in two by the Caldon Canal. Hanley park developed over a period of five years and cost approximately £70,000. The land was purchased from the estate of Shelton Hall. The lake and park were developed under the supervision of Thomas Hayton Mawson of Windermere.
