Stoke-on-Trent Garden Festival

The Stoke-on-Trent National Garden Festival was the second of Britain's National Garden Festivals. It was held in the city from 1 May to 26 October 1986, and was opened by the Queen. Preparation of the site involved the reclamation of land formerly occupied by the Shelton Bar steelworks (1830-1978), about two miles north-west of the city centre, between Hanley and Burslem. British Steel's Shelton Bar steel rolling mill remained in use, finally closing in 2000.

Vale Park is a football stadium in Stoke-on-Trent, England. It is the home ground of Port Vale F.C. , who have played at the ground since 1950. The ground has seen its capacity go up and down, its peak being 42,000 in 1954 against Blackpool, although a club record 49,768 managed to squeeze in for a 1960 FA Cup fifth round fixture against Aston Villa.

Burslem School of Art

Burslem School of Art was an art school in Burslem in the Potteries district of England. Students from the school played an important role in the local pottery industry. In 1985, the school was featured in Pottery Ladies, a series of TV documentaries made for Channel 4 with the support of the Arts Council of Great Britain. Wedgwood Institute

The Wedgwood Institute is a large red-brick building that stands in Queen Street, in the town of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Exhibits included displays about ceramics manufacturers Wade Ceramics, Royal Doulton, Sadlers, Dudson, Steelite, Royal Stafford, Moorland, Burleigh Pottery, Moorcroft and Cobridge Stoneware. There were interactive displays and video presentations for children on ceramic history and local history.

Frink School

The Frink School of Figurative Sculpture was named after Elisabeth Frink (1930–1993), British Sculptor, and was a small intimate academy with a specific discipline of study closer in spirit to a master and apprentice structure than an educational institution. It was directed by the British sculptor Rosemary Barnett; other artists involved in its educational role included Harry Everington, Alan Thornhill and Ken Ford.

Burslem railway station

Burslem railway station was a station on the Potteries Loop Line that served the town of Burslem, Staffordshire. It was located on Moorland Road, adjacent to Burslem Park. It should have opened with the extension of the Potteries Loop Line from Hanley on 1 November 1873 but the Board of Trade inspector was not satisfied so there was a delay of a month before opening. The station closed in 1964 when the Loop Line closed.

Pinnox branch

The Pinnox railway branch ran from Longport Junction, north of Longport Station, through to just south of Tunstall Station in England. The Pinnox branch was originally constructed as a mineral line between Longport and Tunstall. The line after leaving the main line at Longport Junction ran past Westport Lake on an embankment before passing under Davenport Road and Westport Road. The branch passed the side of what is now Co-operative Academy at Brownhill.
