Wennington railway station

Wennington railway station serves the village of Wennington in Lancashire, England. It is situated on the Leeds to Morecambe Line and operated by Northern Rail, who provide all passenger train services. Originally opened by the Little North Western Railway in 1850 on their line between Skipton and Morecambe, the station was rebuilt & expanded in 1865 prior to the opening of the Furness and Midland Joint Railway from Carnforth in 1867.

Wennington Junction rail crash

Just west of Wennington railway station lies Wennington junction where the Furness and Midland Joint Railway leaves the Leeds to Morecambe section of the Midland Railway. On 11 August 1880 the 12:15 Leeds to Lancaster train completely derailed at the junction points then continued for 166 yards before striking the abutment of a bridge.

The Ridding

The Ridding is a Victorian country house located in the village of Bentham, North Yorkshire, England. It is designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building. It was built in Scottish Baronial style for B.  H.  Bent by E.  G.  Paley in 1857–60, the only building designed in this style by Paley. It is built of squared rubble with sandstone ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The frontage has three bays in two storeys and incorporates a short two-stage tower at the left.
