Waltham Holy Cross Urban District

It was created in 1894 and covered the area of the large and ancient parish of Waltham Holy Cross, which included the town of Waltham Abbey as well as the hamlets of Holyfield, High Beach, Sewardstone and Upshire. East 15 Acting School

Loughton Camp

Loughton Camp is an Iron Age (~500 BC) Hill fort in Epping Forest, one mile (1.6 km) North West of the town of Loughton. The camp's earthworks cover an area of approximately 10 acres (4 hectares) and are visible today as a low bank and ditch encircling the main camp. The banks were most probably once a single high rampart, used for defence and the appearance of the ditch suggests it was once very wide and deep in places.

Debden incinerator thefts

The Debden incinerator thefts occurred between 1988 and 1992 at the Bank of England's incinerator plant in Debden, Epping Forest – four employees of the plant stole more than GB£600,000 in a series of regular thefts. The four participants and their spouses were arrested in 1992, with only one being prosecuted in criminal court. In a civil suit, the remaining members of the group were ordered to repay half a million pounds to the bank.
