Westwood, East Kilbride
Westwood is an area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride. It is immortalised by one of its former inhabitants, Roddy Frame of Aztec Camera, in the song "Somewhere In My Heart". Westwood is home to Duncanrig Secondary School, which under South Lanarkshire Council's Schools modernisation programme, was the first of the new schools in the town to be built, near to the site of the original school building.

Fernhill, Scotland
Fernhill is a residential district in the Scottish town of Rutherglen in Lanarkshire. It is situated south of the River Clyde. Built largely in the 1950s and 60s as a slum clearance area for Rutherglen, Fernhill could be considered as a smaller equivalent to the infamous Castlemilk estate which borders the scheme to its west, due to both its location and the fact that the inhabitants of both schemes have encountered many similar problems such as poverty, social isolation and drug abuse.

Cathkin Braes
Cathkin Braes, at over 200m in altitude, is the highest area in Glasgow. It is a site for mountainbikers and was a rallying point in the Radical War. It includes The Big Wood and Cathkin Braes Park Woodland, both areas of mature beech, sycamore and oak trees. In addition there is grassland, heath, hedgerows and wetlands. These natural areas provide foraging habitat for a number of species, including kestrels and owls.
