Fenn's, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses National Nature Reserve is a National Nature Reserve which straddles the border between England and Wales, near Whixall and Ellesmere in Shropshire, England. It is managed by Natural England and Natural Resources Wales (replacing the former Countryside Council for Wales) and comprises three peat bogs, Bettisfield Moss, Fenn's Moss and Whixall Moss. Fenn's Moss is the source of the Wych Brook, a tributary of the River Dee.

Wem Rural is a civil parish in Shropshire, England that encircles the market town of Wem which is a separate parish ("Wem Urban"). The parish has three wards - Edstaston ward to the north and north east of Wem, Newtown ward to the north and north west of Wem and the confusingly named Wem ward to the west, south and east of Wem. The parish was formed in 1900 from the outer part of Wem, the inner part of which became the parish of Wem Urban in the Wem urban district.

The main place of worship within the hamlet is Welsh End Methodist Chapel. Welsh End, small as it is, once boasted two public houses, The Pheasant and The Waggoners. The Pheasant is now a private house and The Waggoners burnt down in early 2008.

Prees Branch Canal Nature Reserve

Prees Branch Canal Nature Reserve is a Shropshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve in the civil parish of Whixall, Shropshire, England. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the presence of rare pondweeds, and also is the home of watervoles. The reserve contains a number of uncommon plants and is visited by waterfowl. Otters sometimes occur. The Prees Branch Canal was originally meant to be an extension of The Ellesmere Canal to Prees, but was only constructed as far as Quina Brook.
