Gorton railway station

Gorton railway station serves Gorton district of the city of Manchester, England. The station is on the Manchester-Glossop Line and the 2½ miles (4 km) east of Manchester Piccadilly. It was opened by the Great Central Railway (GCR) on 25 August 1906 and replaced an earlier station that had opened on the line on 23 May 1842. From 1 January 1923, the station was operated by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER).

Manchester Higher Openshaw

Manchester Higher Openshaw was the 15th Salvation Army corps opened in Manchester, in 1903, in Fairfield Road. The corps is currently the home of the Eden Project, a partnership between the Salvation Army and The Message Trust. The project was formed in 2000 by Gary Bishop. Author of "Darkest England & The Way Back In", Gary Bishop lead the project until February 2007 before handing the leadership on to Sam Ward.

Alhambra Theatre, Manchester

The Alhambra Theatre in Higher Openshaw, Manchester, England, was opened in 1910, part of the H. D. Moorhouse Theatre Circuit, but it had been converted to a cinema by the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. The cinema was converted into a bingo hall in the early 1960s. The auditorium was finally used as a sporting club,{{#invoke:Footnotes|sfn}} and what remained of the building was used as a restaurant, storage space and glass works.

Peacock Mausoleum

The Peacock Mausoleum is a Victorian Gothic memorial to Richard Peacock (1820–1889), engineer and Liberal MP for Manchester, and to his son, Joseph Peacock. It is situated in the cemetery of Brookfield Unitarian Church, Gorton, Manchester. The mausoleum was designed by the prolific Manchester architect Thomas Worthington. It was made a Grade II* listed structure on 3 October 1974. Pevsner's The Buildings of England describes the memorial as "a large three-bay shrine of white stone.

Brookfield Unitarian Church

Brookfield Unitarian Church, Gorton, Manchester, is a Victorian Gothic church built between 1869–71. It was commissioned by Richard Peacock (1820–1889), engineer and Liberal MP for Manchester and designed by the prolific Manchester architect Thomas Worthington. The church cost Peacock £12,000. It was designated a Grade II* listed building on 3 October 1974. The churchyard lodges and the Sunday School are also listed buildings.
