Framland

Framland was a hundred in north-east Leicestershire, roughly corresponding to today's borough of Melton. It was recorded in the Domesday Book as one of Leicestershire's four wapentakes. The name is still in use for a deanery of the Diocese of Leicester in the Church of England. The original meeting place of the hundred was at Great Framland.

Melton and Belvoir Rural District was a rural district of Leicestershire, England, from 1935 to 1974. It was formed in 1935 from the merger of the Melton Mowbray Rural District and the Belvoir Rural District, with part going to Melton Mowbray urban district also. In 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972 the district merged with the Melton urban district to form the new non-metropolitan district of Melton.

Most of the houses are built from locally-mined ironstone and some, including Goadby Hall, date from the 17th century. There is only one road into, and out of, the village. Goadby Marwood has no public house or shop, but has a post office with limited opening hours.

Waltham-on-the-Wolds railway station

Waltham on the Wolds railway station was a railway station serving the village of Waltham on the Wolds, Leicestershire. The station was on a branch line built by the Great Northern Railway from the Great Northern and London and North Western Joint Railway at Scalford to exploit ironstone deposits in the area. The station was built in 1883 but never had a regular train service. Instead, it was used only for specials bringing visitors to Waltham fair or to race meetings at Croxton Park until c.

Eastwell, Leicestershire

Eastwell is a village and ecclesiastical parish in Leicestershire, England. For the purposes of administration Eastwell is part of the civil parish of Eaton that, in turn, forms part of the borough of Melton. Eastwell lost its own civil parish status in 1936. Its population in 1931 was recorded as 152; the 1851 census had recorded 158 so the village had not suffered the rural depopulation seen elsewhere.

Goadby Hall

Goadby Hall is a privately owned 17th-century country house at Towns Lane, Goadby Marwood, Leicestershire. It is a Grade II* listed building. The house was substantially altered about 1750, when a new south front was built in the Palladian style. Five recessed central bays extend to two storeys with attics, the central three bays of which are pedimented with Doric order columns. Two flanking wings of two storeys have two bays each. The plainer north front has three storeys and seven bays.
