Oakham railway station
Oakham railway station serves the town of Oakham in Rutland, England. The station is situated almost halfway between Leicester – 27 miles to the west – and Peterborough – 25 miles eastward on the (as built) Syston and Peterborough Railway, the line is now part of the much bigger Birmingham to Peterborough Line. Oakham is Rutland's only surviving passenger railway station.

Hereward Way is a long-distance footpath in England. The path takes its name from Hereward the Wake, the 11th century leader who fought against William the Conqueror, who had his base on the Isle of Ely that is located near to the middle of the path. Each end of the path has a railway station. Stations towards the centre of the path are located at Shippea Hill and Ely. The footpath runs through Stamford, Peterborough, March, Ely and Brandon. It also goes through Thetford Forest.
Oakham Castle
Oakham Castle is located in Oakham, Rutland, England. It was constructed between 1180 and 1190, in the reign of Henry II for Walchelin de Ferriers, Lord of the Manor of Oakham. The Castle is known for its collection of massive horseshoes and is also recognised as one of the best examples of domestic Norman architecture in England. Admission to the castle is free. Oakham Castle is owned and managed by Rutland County Council. Oakham Castle is licensed for civil ceremonies.
Rutland County College
Rutland County College is a post-16 (or sixth-form) college, based mainly in Oakham, Rutland, England. In September 2012 it opened on a new site in Barleythorpe on the outskirts of Oakham. Originally called Rutland Sixth Form College, it was built on the site of the former Rutland Girls' Grammar School. It was incorporated into Tresham College in August 2000, changing its name to Rutland College. In 2009 Tresham Institute announced its intention to withdraw from Oakham.

Rutland County Museum
Rutland County Museum is located in Oakham, Rutland, in the old Riding School of the Rutland Fencible Cavalry which was built in 1794-95. The museum, opened in 1969, houses a collection of objects relating to local rural and agricultural life, social history and archaeology. Temporary exhibitions are shown alongside the permanent displays and there are activities for children. The museum has recently begun social networking, via Twitter and Facebook.
