Haverhill (CVHR) railway station

Haverhill (CVHR) railway station was a station in Haverhill, Suffolk. It was a terminus on the Colne Valley and Halstead Railway. It was sometimes known as Haverhill South to distinguish it from Haverhill railway station on the Stour Valley Railway which also served the town. In 1924 passenger services were diverted to Haverhill North but the station continued to be served by freight trains until 1965. Since closure the station has been demolished and the site redeveloped.

Hempstead, Essex

Hempstead is a village near Saffron Walden, in Essex. It is situated on the B1054, a relatively quiet road, from Saffron Walden to Steeple Bumpstead. The village is the birthplace of Dick Turpin, and is also the final resting place of Doctor William Harvey, who discovered the circulation of blood. Within the village, you can find the Bluebell Inn, reputedly the actual birthplace of the aforementioned Dick Turpin. The village is linked to nearby Great Sampford via Howe Lane.
