Blackness Castle
Blackness Castle is a 15th-century fortress, near the village of Blackness, Scotland, on the south shore of the Firth of Forth. It was built, probably on the site of an earlier fort, by Sir George Crichton in the 1440s. At this time, Blackness was the main port serving the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, one of the main residences of the Scottish monarch. The castle, together with the Crichton lands, passed to King James II of Scotland in 1453, and the castle has been crown property ever since.
Kingscavil
Kingscavil (NT029765) is a small settlement in West Lothian lying between Linlithgow and Bridgend on the old A9 (now the B9080). Essentially a single row of houses, Kingscavil once had a school serving the many local agricultural settlements, but this is now privately owned. The church remains in use. In 1895 there were 112 houses with 709 residents registered. It hosted such ammenties as a pub, school and police station. The village also had its own bowling green and two local football teams.
Ecclesmachan
Ecclesmachan (NT058736) is a village in West Lothian. It lies just north of Uphall on the B8046 road. As at 2001, the population of the civil parish of Ecclesmachan was 529 and was 811 in 1991. The name means church of Saint Machan, and is its form is thought to show that a church was present in the area in Sub-Roman times. The church was once under the care of the Templars via Torphichen receptory and in fact the graveyard contains several examples of Templar symbology.
House of the Binns

It dates from the early 17th Century, and is currently in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. The estate is situated on two hills (or "Binns" / "Bens" in Celtic) from which its name is derived.

Winchburgh rail crash
The Winchburgh rail crash occurred on Monday 13 October 1862, a mile and a half northwest of Winchburgh in Linlithgowshire. At that point, the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway passes through a cutting on a curve. On the day of the accident, only one line was in use due to track maintenance when two trains met head-on. The drivers saw each other when they were some 300 yards apart and managed so that their relative speed was down to under 30 mph when they collided.
Ochiltree Castle, West Lothian
Ochiltree Castle is a 16th century tower house in West Lothian, Scotland. It is also described as a farmhouse and lairds house. Along with its boundary wall, the castle a listed building. Two pediments (c. 1610) display the monograms of Sir Archibald Stirling of Keir and his wife Dame Grizel (née Ross) Stirling.
