Landywood forms part of the parish and village of Great Wyrley, and together with Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay, forms a community with a combined population in 2001 of almost 20,000. Rumer Hill Junction

Rumer Hill Junction was a canal junction on the Cannock Extension Canal where the Churchbridge Branch left to join the Hatherton Canal. The junction, along with the northern section of the canal was abandoned in 1963. The Churchbridge Branch and Rumer Hill Junction were subsequently obliterated by opencast mining.

At the 2011 census, Bridgtown had a population of 1,284. The Chase Line railway from Rugeley to Walsall passes through the parish, with the nearest stations at Cannock and Landywood. A proposal for a new station serving Bridgtown and nearby Churchbridge was withdrawn in 2005 due to lack of funding.
