Battle of Stoke Field
The Battle of Stoke Field (16 June 1487) may be considered the last battle of the Wars of the Roses, since it was the last engagement in which a Lancastrian king faced an army of Yorkist supporters, under the pretender Lambert Simnel. (Many historians, however, consider the Battle of Bosworth, two years previously, as the last real battle in the Wars of the Roses.
Rolleston railway station
Rolleston station is around half a mile from the small village of Rolleston, one of the Trent side villages close to Southwell in Nottinghamshire, England. The station is convenient for Southwell Racecourse, to which it is adjacent. Rolleston is on the Nottingham to Lincoln Line, its neighbouring stations being Newark castle, around 4 miles east, and Fiskerton, around 3/4 mile west.
Elston
Elston is a small village in Nottinghamshire to the southwest of Newark, and a mile from the A46 Fosse Way. The parish of Elston lies between the rivers Trent and Devon, with "the village itself set amongst trees and farmland less than a mile from the A46. The historic market town of Newark is just five miles to the north, with the cities of Lincoln and Nottingham some eighteen miles north and southwest respectively.

Fiskerton is a small village in Nottinghamshire on the west bank of the River Trent about 3 miles southeast of Southwell. Regarding the old boat ferry from Fiskerton to East Stoke, "Up until the middle of this century (1950s) there was a ferry boat service over to the other side of the River Trent at Stoke Field.". Fiskerton Mill lies on the River Greet only a few hundred yards upstream from its junction with the River Trent.
Rolleston, Nottinghamshire
Rolleston is a small village in Nottinghamshire by the River Greet (a tributary of the River Trent), a few miles from Southwell not far from the Trent and about 5 miles southwest of Newark. It has a church dedicated to the Holy Trinity. It lies close to the railway line between Nottingham and Lincoln and is only one kilometer to the south of Southwell race course, which lies just to the north of the same railway line.

Elston Chapel is a redundant Anglican church to the northeast of the village of Elston, Nottinghamshire, England. It stands in a field and is described as a "solitary barn-like chapel".
1958 Syerston Avro Vulcan crash
The 1958 Syerston Avro Vulcan crash was a military aviation accident that occurred in England on 20 September 1958 during an air show at RAF Syerston, Nottinghamshire when a prototype Avro Vulcan bomber crashed. All four crew on board and three people on the ground were killed.
