Rye railway station

Rye railway station serves Rye in East Sussex, England. It is on the Marshlink Line 11+⁄4 miles east of Hastings providing a passing place between two single track sections. Train services are provided by Southern. The staggered platforms are linked by footbridge. Owing to a prolonged threat by British Rail to close the line, the station remained unmodernised and gaslit well into the 1970s.

Lamb House

Lamb House is an 18th-century house situated in Rye, East Sussex, England, and in the ownership of the National Trust. The house has literary connections. It was the home of Henry James from 1898 to 1916, and later of E.F. Benson and Rumer Godden. Benson writes lovingly of both garden and house, renamed "Mallards", in his "Mapp and Lucia" novels. The publisher Sir Brian Batsford, the literary agent Graham Watson and the writers John Senior and Sarah Philo have also held the tenancy.

Rye Particular Baptist Chapel is a former Strict Baptist place of worship in Rye, an ancient hilltop town in Rother, one of six local government districts in the English county of East Sussex. Built in the 18th century on the site of a decaying Quaker meeting house, it served Baptists in the town for many years until a new chapel was constructed nearby. English Heritage has listed the building at Grade II for its architectural and historical importance.

The Mermaid Inn

The Mermaid Inn is a Grade II* listed historical inn located on Mermaid Street in the ancient town of Rye, East Sussex, southeastern England. One of the best-known inns in southeast England, it was established in the 12th century and has a long, turbulent history. The current building dates from 1420 and has 16th-century additions in the Tudor style, but cellars built in 1156 survive.

The Old Bell Inn, Rye

The Old Bell Inn, also known as Ye Olde Bell Inn, is a Grade II listed historical inn in Rye, East Sussex. It was built in 1390. It has a turbulent history and was once used for smuggling, connected by a secret tunnel to the nearby The Mermaid Inn to the south. It was used by the Hawkhurst Gang in the 1730s and 1740s who moved goods along the tunnel from the Mermaid to a revolving cupboard in the Old Bell for a quick getaway.
