Oak Hill Country Club
Oak Hill Country Club, located in the Town of Pittsford, New York, a suburb of Rochester, has a rich history of golf. It started out in 1901 as only 9 holes on 85 acres (0.3 km²) on the banks of the Genesee River in Rochester. The clubhouse was no more than a converted farm house. However, at the time golf was a relatively new sport in America, and as popularity of the sport grew, so did the country club.
Country Club of Rochester
One of the oldest golf clubs in America, the Country Club of Rochester is a championship golf course in the Towns of Brighton and Pittsford, in suburban Rochester, New York. Members of the Genesee Valley Club founded the golf club in 1895, on a farm four miles east of downtown. The original course was of rather primitive design, reflective of the early era of golf. In 1912, the Club hired Scotsman Donald Ross to design a more modern course on the same grounds.

The 1989 U.S. Open was the 89th U.S. Open, held June 15–18 at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. Curtis Strange won his second consecutive U.S. Open, one stroke ahead of runners-up Chip Beck, Mark McCumber, and Ian Woosnam. Strange was the first to successfully defend a U.S. Open title since Ben Hogan in 1951. Strange fired a 64 in the second round to take the 36-hole lead. A 73 in the third round dropped him to three back of Tom Kite.

The 1968 U.S. Open was the 68th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 13–16, 1968, at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. Lee Trevino equaled the tournament scoring record and won his first major title, four strokes ahead of runner-up Jack Nicklaus.
1956 U.S. Open (golf)
The 1956 U.S. Open was the 56th U.S. Open, held June 14–16 at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. Cary Middlecoff won his second U.S. Open title, one stroke ahead of runners-up Julius Boros and Ben Hogan, both former champions. Middlecoff began the final round on the East Course with a two-stroke lead over Hogan, Ted Kroll, and Wes Ellis. After an erratic finish where he bogeyed 16 and 17, he carded a third consecutive round of 70 to post a 281 total.
2003 PGA Championship
The 2003 PGA Championship was the 85th PGA Championship, held from August 14-17 at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. Shaun Micheel won his first major title, two strokes ahead of runner-up Chad Campbell. It was the fifth major at the East Course, which previously hosted the PGA Championship in 1980, and three U.S. Opens. It also hosted the Ryder Cup in 1995.
1980 PGA Championship
The 1980 PGA Championship was the 62nd PGA Championship, held from August 7–10 at Oak Hill Country Club, East Course in Rochester, New York. Jack Nicklaus won his fifth PGA Championship, seven strokes ahead of runner-up Andy Bean, which tied him with Walter Hagen, who won five PGA titles in match play competition. It was the 17th of 18 major titles for the 40-year-old Nicklaus, and his second of the year: he won the U.S. Open two months earlier.
