Swansea Canal
The Swansea Canal was a canal constructed by the Swansea Canal Navigation Company between 1794 and 1798, running for some 16.5 miles from Swansea to Hen Neuadd, Abercraf in South Wales. It was steeply graded, and 36 locks were needed to enable it to rise 373 feet over its length. The main cargos were coal, iron and steel, and the enterprise was profitable. Sold to the Great Western Railway in 1873, it continued to make a profit until 1895.
Cwmtawe Community School
Cwmtawe Community School is a modern, English-medium education comprehensive school situated in Pontardawe, South Wales. The school moved to newly built premises in 1996, its old building now being used by the local Welsh-language primary school, Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Pontardawe. Cwmtawe recently won an eco-schools award for environmentally friendly schools, which is based on school improvements, community and curriculum links as well as saving money and raising awareness.

Pontardawe railway station
Pontardawe Railway Station was a railway station, located on the Swansea Vale Railway that ran along the River Tawe and which closed in 1964. It was situated next to the Gwachel public house and the Victorian bridge over the Tawe. The station was used primarily to transport coal. The station closed as the coal mining industry in Pontardawe was declining in the 1960s.
Pontardawe (electoral ward)
Pontardawe is an electoral ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. It is a division of the Pontardawe community and falls within the parliamentary constituency of Neath. Pontardawe is bounded by the wards of Glanamman of Carmarthenshire, Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen and Cwmllynfell to the north; Ystalyfera and Godre'r Graig to the east; Rhos to the southeast; Allt-Wen and Trebanos to the south; and Mawr and Clydach of Swansea to the west.

Not to be confused with the entirely separate Lower Clydach River which is also a right-bank tributary of the River Tawe nor with the River Clydach which flows down the Clydach Gorge on the Monmouthshire/Blaenau Gwent boundary.
Pontardawe television relay station
The Pontardawe television relay station was originally built in 1974/1975 as a relay for UHF analogue television. It consists of a 45 m self-supporting lattice mast standing on a hillside which is itself about 160 m above sea level (about 100 m above the town). Currently, the transmitters cater for most of the digital terrestrial TV subscribers in the towns of Pontardawe and Alltwen and in the nearby villages of that section of the Tawe valley.
