River Blackwater (River Loddon)
The River Blackwater is a tributary of the River Loddon in England and, indirectly, of the River Thames. It rises at Rowhill on the outskirts of Aldershot between Aldershot in Hampshire and Farnham in Surrey and runs northwards to join the Loddon near the village of Swallowfield in Berkshire. Crosfields School, commonly and colloquially known as Crosfields and initialised XF is an interdenominational preparatory day school on Shinfield Road in the civil parish of Shinfield, near the border of the boroughs of Reading and Wokingham in the English county of Berkshire. Established in 1957 when it gained independence from Leighton Park School as Leighton Park Junior School, it is set within 40 acres of ground. The school is now fully co-educational.
Hundred of Charlton
Charlton was a hundred in the English county of Berkshire. Like all hundreds, although never abolished, it effectively ceased to function after 1886. Charlton was one of the seven hundreds of Windsor Forest. It consists of the parishes of Barkham, Finchampstead, Hurst, Shinfield and Swallowfield. Before the early 13th century, it also included what became the parishes of Arborfield, Crowthorne, Earley, Ruscombe, Sandhurst, Sonning, Wokingham and Woodley.

Swallowfield Park is a Grade II* listed stately home and estate in the English county of Berkshire. The house is situated near the village of Swallowfield, some 4 miles south of the town of Reading.
Farley Castle
Farley Castle is an early 19th century modern house situated at Farley Hill, Berkshire, Swallowfield, Berkshire. The Gothic-styled, two-storey house in red brick with battlements and round turrets, was built by Martin-Atkins and Woodbury c. 1810, and was the former home of Benjamin Brodie. From around the 1960s to the mid 1980s, the castle was the central focus of Hephaistos School. Hephaistos was founded by Miss Dorothy Woolley, for the purpose of educating boys with physical disabilities.

Ryeish Green School was a comprehensive secondary school located in the hamlet of Ryeish Green, near Spencers Wood in Reading, Berkshire. The school closed in 2010, and a new school—Oakbank—opened on the site in 2012.

L'Ortolan is a gourmet restaurant in the village of Shinfield, 6 km south of the centre of Reading, Berkshire, England. It is located in the village's old vicarage building. The restaurant has one star in the Michelin Guide and 3 AA rosettes Run by John Burton Race for 13 years, the restaurant was purchased by IT entrepreneur Peter Newman in 2000 who appointed Alan Murchison as head chef. Alan left in 2003 and Daniel Galmiche took over for a year.
