Dukinfield is a small town within the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside, in Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Cheshire, it lies in central Tameside on the south bank of the River Tame, opposite Ashton-under-Lyne, and is 6.3 miles east of the city of Manchester. At the time of the 2001 census it had a population of 18,885. The town is a product of the Industrial Revolution when its development was accelerated by the growth of coal mining and the cotton industry.

Originally simply Hyde, it was built by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, opening in 1858 as a branch from its main line through Penistone to Sheffield. Ewen Fields

Ewen Fields is a multi-use stadium in Tameside, England. It is the home ground of Hyde F.C. and Manchester City Reserves and has also in the past hosted Manchester United F.C. Astley Deep Pit Disaster

The Astley Deep Pit Disaster was a mining accident at the Astley Deep Pit, in Dukinfield, Cheshire, England, that took place on 14 April 1874, killing 54 men and boys. Astley Deep Pit was a coal mine started around 1845 to work the seam of coal known as the "Lancashire Black Mine". When finished, it was supposedly the deepest coal-mine in Britain and cost £100,000 to sink.

Gorse Hall

Gorse Hall was the name given to two large houses in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, England, on a hill bordering Dukinfield. The first house, Old Gorse Hall, can be traced back to the 17th century and it probably dates from before this. Its ruins can still be seen. The Hall was once part of the Dockenfeld Manor held by Lieutenant–Colonel Robert Duckenfield, a Parliamentarian soldier in the English Civil War. New Gorse Hall was built by John Leech in 1836. Today, both houses are ruined.

Godley Reservoir

The Godley Reservoir is a reservoir in Godley, near Hyde, Greater Manchester. It was completed in 1851, as a critical part of the Longdendale Chain project that brought fresh water to Manchester. The Manchester Corporation Waterworks Act 1847 gave permission for the construction of the Woodhead, Hollingworth and Arnfield reservoirs, and the construction of a masonry aqueduct to convey drinking water from Arnfield and Hollingworth to a service reservoir at Godley.

Mottram Tunnel

The Mottram Tunnel is a tunnel carrying drinking water by gravity from Arnfield Reservoir, Tintwistle, Derbyshire in the valley of the River Etherow, to Godley, Greater Manchester in the valley of the River Tame. It was essential to the construction of the Longdendale Chain of reservoirs constructed by John Frederick Bateman. The tunnel was built between August 1848 and October 1850, and the Godley service reservoir was built to receive and filter the water. That was finished in 1851.

Waterside Mill, Ashton-under-Lyne

Waterside Mill, Ashton-under-Lyne was a combined cotton spinning weaving mill in Whitelands, Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester. It was built as two independent factories. The weaving sheds date from 1857; the four-storey spinning mill dates from 1863. The spinning was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s. Production finished in the 1950s. Waterside Mill was converted to electricity around 1911.
