Fleckney
Fleckney is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England The village appeared in the Domesday Book, and was a farming community until the 19th century, which saw development of industry, first bricks (some were used in the construction of St Pancras railway station) and then later hosiery. The population increased after the Second World War with new housing being constructed, and reached 4,295 according to the 1991 census, most of whom now commute.
Kilby
Kilby is a village and civil parish in the Blaby district of Leicestershire, England. It is the easternmost village in the district, and is south of Leicester. It has a population of about 300. Kilby has only one pub called the Dog & Gun, An Anglican Primary School and a Parish Church. There is also a park for the residents of Kilby. The park has a small football field, swings, a roundabout, climbing obstacles and a picnic table.
Great Glen railway station
Great Glen railway station was built by the Midland Railway in 1857 on its extension from Leicester to Bedford and Hitchin. Originally simply Glen, it was later renamed Glen Magna before receiving its final name. Passengers services finished in 1951, while goods services continued it was unstaffed in 1962, finally closing in 1964. The station houses remain and are occupied by a commercial business. Wistow is a hamlet and deserted medieval village in the English county of Leicestershire located to the south of the city of Leicester. The Elizabethan Hall and the 13th century parish church dedicated to Saint Wigstan remain. The name derives from Wistan's Stowe. Newton Harcourt is divided from its church by the Grand Union Canal's Leicester Arm and the Midland Main Line railway both of which pass to the south of the main settlement. Administratively, Newton Harcourt forms part of the civil parish of Wistow Cum Newton Harcourt and of the district of Harborough.
Saddington
Saddington is a village in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England. It is close to Smeeton Westerby, Gumley, Kibworth and Fleckney. It is a small hilltop village to the south of Fleckney and overlooks the Saddington Reservoir, constructed in 1802 to feed the Grand Union Canal. The canal flows through the parish and traverses a half-mile-long tunnel.
Kibworth Cricket Club New Ground
Kibworth Cricket Club New Ground is a cricket ground in Kibworth, Leicestershire. The ground replaced the original Kibworth Cricket Club Ground which was sold for development at the end of the 2005 season. The New Ground is located directly next to the development which covers the old ground. The first match on the ground was in 2006, when Kibworth Cricket Club played a Leicestershire CCC XI as part of Darren Maddy's benefit year.
