Magruder, Virginia

Magruder was a small unincorporated town in Virginia near Williamsburg in York County. Now extinct, it once had its own church, post office, cemetery, lodge, and homes. Magruder is considered one of the many lost towns of Virginia. The land on which it stood is now part of the US military reservation known as Camp Peary.

Bigler's Mill, Virginia

Bigler's Mill was a small town in Virginia near Williamsburg in York County which is now extinct. It is now considered one of the many lost towns of Virginia. During the American Civil War, a field hospital had occupied the site of Bigler's Mill, which was previously known as Rippon Hall. During World War II, the U.S. Navy took over a large area in the north western portion of York County which became known as Camp Peary.

Camp Peary

Camp Peary is an approximately 9,000 acre military reservation in York County near Williamsburg, Virginia. Officially referred to as an Armed Forces Experimental Training Activity (AFETA) under the auspices of the Department of Defense, Camp Peary is rumored to host a covert CIA training facility known as "The Farm". Camp Peary has a sister facility, "The Point", located in Hertford, North Carolina.

Penniman, Virginia

Penniman was an unincorporated town in northwestern York County, on the south bank of the York River six miles (10 km) northeast of Williamsburg in the Virginia Peninsula area of the Hampton Roads region of southeastern Virginia in the United States. It was named for Russell Sylvanus Penniman, an American chemist who in 1885 invented ammonia dynamite. As part of the World War I war efforts, Penniman was built by the E.I.

Water Country USA

Water Country USA is a water theme park in York County, Virginia, about 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Williamsburg, Virginia, USA. It is the Mid-Atlantic's largest water park, and it offers live entertainment, shops and restaurants, water rides, and other attractions, all of which have a 1950s or 1960s surf theme. It is owned by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, a division of The Blackstone Group. The park is just a few miles away from Busch Gardens Williamsburg, with which it shares clientele.

Fort Magruder

Fort Magruder was a 30-foot high earthen fortification straddling the road between Yorktown and Williamsburg, Virginia, just outside the latter city (and former Virginia state capital) during the American Civil War. At the center of the Williamsburg Line, it was also referred to as Redoubt Number 6.

Queen's Creek

Presidents Park (Virginia)

Presidents Park was a ten-acre open air museum with presidential sculptures located in Williamsburg, Virginia, United States. It included 18 to 20 foot high busts of the first 43 Presidents of the United States. from Number 1 to Number 43. ' The park was opened in March 2004 The statues were sculpted by the internationally renowned artist David Adickes. David Adickes, a Houston artist, was inspired after driving past Mount Rushmore on a trip back from Canada.
