Shaw University

Shaw University, founded as Raleigh Institute, is a private liberal arts institution and historically black university (HBCU) in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Founded in 1865, it is the oldest HBCU in the Southern United States. Shaw is affiliated with the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and a member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. which supports the Shaw University Divinity School.

Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts

The Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts is the main venue for the performing arts in Raleigh, North Carolina. The naming rights to the center currently are held by Progress Energy, which purchased them from the city in 2005 for a 20-year term at the cost of $7.5 million. The original naming rights previously were held by BTI Telecom (acquired by ITC^DeltaCom in 2003), and the facility was known as the BTI Center for the Performing Arts from 1997-2005.

Raleigh Convention Center

The Raleigh Convention Center is a convention and exhibition facility in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina that opened in September 2008. The lead architect was Obrien/Atkins Associates. Located at 500 South Salisbury Street, the three-level 500,000-square-foot building contains an 150,000-square-foot exhibit hall, twenty meeting rooms and a 32,000-square-foot ballroom. The ballroom on the highest level can seat up to 2,715 persons (banquet-style) or 3,630 persons (theater-style).

Leonard Hall (Shaw University)

Leonard Hall is a historic educational building located on the campus of Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Built in 1881 and originally named Leonard Medical Center (then Leonard Medical School), Leonard Hall was established when medical schools were professionalizing. It was the first medical school for African-Americans in the United States to offer a four-year curriculum, as well as the first four-year medical school in North Carolina.

It was completed in 2004 at a cost of $100 million as a headquarters for Progress Energy Inc and has 19 floors and 366,000 square feet of space. It is owned by J.P. Morgan Trust Co. In 1999, Carolina Power & Light announced plans for a new headquarters tower. The 2000 merger with Florida Progress Corporation which created Progress Energy increased the need for the new building, which at the time had an estimated cost of $60 million.

Capital Bank Plaza is a skyscraper in Raleigh, North Carolina which houses the headquarters of Capital Bank. Formerly known as 333 Corporate Plaza, the 15-story building at 333 Fayetteville Street has 135,000 square feet of space and is an "outstanding example of International Style modernism" and "features black granite on the facade with polished green marble, black granite, and cherry paneling in the lobby.
