Royal Mint
The Royal Mint is the body permitted to manufacture, or mint, coins in the United Kingdom. The Mint originated over 1,100 years ago, but since 2010 it operates as Royal Mint Ltd, a company which has an exclusive contract with HM Treasury to supply all coinage for the UK. A473 road
The A473 is a main road linking Pontypridd with Bridgend in Wales. The route begins in Upper Boat just south of Pontypridd, at the junction with the A470 and A4054 roads. It crosses the bridge in an easterly direction and continues along the road until it reaches the hill known locally as Power Station hill until it reaches a roundabout near the village of Tonteg after which it heads in a south westerly direction.

Penychen
Penychen was a possible minor kingdom of early mediaeval Wales and later a cantref of the Kingdom of Morgannwg. Penychen was one of three cantrefs that made up the kingdom of Glywysing, the other two being Gwynllwg and Gorfynydd. The cantrefi were created on the death of Glywys (c.480 AD), the first king of Glywysing, when the kingdom was divided between three of his sons, Pawl, Gwynllyw and Mechwyn. Pawl was the ruler of Penychen and on his death (c.540 AD) passed the cantref onto his nephew.
Coin Act 1816
The Coinage Act 1816 (56 Geo. III c.68) defined the value of the pound sterling relative to gold. One troy pound of standard gold was defined as equivalent to £46 14s 6d. According to its preamble, the purposes of the Act were firstly to prohibit the use of silver coins, which had become debased, for transactions larger than 40s; and secondly to establish a single gold standard for transactions of all sizes.
