Sandbank, Argyll

Sandbank (Scottish Gaelic: an Oitir or Taigh a' Chladaich) is a village on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, 2.5 miles north of Dunoon on the coastal A815 or the inland A885. It sits on the southern shore of the Holy Loch, branching off the Firth of Clyde. Alexander Robertson started repairing boats in a small workshop at Sandbank in 1876, and Alexander Robertson and Sons Ltd (Yachtbuilders) went on to become one of the foremost wooden boat builders on Scotland's River Clyde.

Dunoon Massacre

The Dunoon Massacre was a massacre that took place in Scotland in 1646. Men of the powerful Clan Campbell massacred men, women and children of the Clan Lamont. By 1646, the Clan Campbell, neighbours of the Clan Lamont, had steadily encroached the Lamont's lands. After the Battle of Inverlochy (1645), the Clan Lamont took the opportunity to lay waste to the Campbell's territory. The following year, the powerful Clan Campbell army invaded the Clan Lamont taking their Castles Toward and Ascog.

Laudervale

Laudervale was a Victorian mansion near Dunoon, Scotland most notable for being the home of Sir Harry Lauder. The house was located on the Innellan Road, a few hundred metres south of Bullwood, Dunoon. Originally named Gerhallow House, it was bought by Sir Harry Lauder and Lady Lauder from Douglas Granville Gossling on May 20, 1908. The couple disliked the existing name and in 1912 renamed it to the more personalised "Laudervale. " Lauder lived at the property from 1908 to the 1930s.

Cowal Community Hospital (formerly known as Dunoon General Hospital) is a community hospital in Dunoon, Scotland. It is presently run by NHS Highland.
