Grimsthorpe Castle

Grimsthorpe Castle is a country house in Lincolnshire, England four miles (6 km) north-west of Bourne on the A151. It lies within a 3,000 acre (12 km²) park of rolling pastures, lakes, and woodland landscaped by Capability Brown. While Grimsthorpe is not a castle in the strict sense of the word, its character is massive and martial – the towers and outlying pavilions recalling the bastions of a great fortress in classical dress. Grimsthorpe has been the home of the de Eresby family since 1516.

Vaudey Abbey

Vaudey Abbey was an English Cistercian abbey. It was founded in 1147 by William, Count of Aumale, Earl of York. Its site is within the Grimsthorpe Castle park, in Lincolnshire, 6 km northwest of Bourne on the A151, but there are no remains of the Abbey aside from earthworks. The Victoria County History contains a substantial report and a list of Abbots.

South Kesteven Rural District

South Kesteven was a rural district in Lincolnshire, Parts of Kesteven in England from 1931 to 1974. It was formed under a County Review Order in 1931, by the merger of the Bourne Rural District and the Uffington Rural District. It continued in existence until 1974, when it was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972, going on to form part of a larger South Kesteven non-metropolitan district.

Edenham railway station

Edenham railway station was a station in Edenham, Lincolnshire. It was the terminus of a four mile branch line from the Great Northern Railway at Little Bytham. The line was built and operated by the Edenham & Little Bytham Railway (E&LBR). It was opened on 8 December 1857. The station closed to passengers on 17 October 1871. Freight traffic continued until about 1884, when the line closed.
