Barnack Rural District
Barnack was a rural district in the Soke of Peterborough and later Huntingdon and Peterborough from 1894 to 1974. It was created in 1894 under the Local Government Act 1894, from that part of the Stamford rural sanitary district which was in the Soke. It included the parishes of Bainton, Barnack, Southorpe, Stamford Baron St Martins Without, Thornhaugh, Ufford, Wansford, Wittering and Wothorpe in the Soke.
Castor Hanglands National Nature Reserve
Castor Hanglands is managed as a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest by Natural England, a non-departmental public body vested in 2006. It is situated north of the villages of Castor and Ailsworth in the unitary authority area of Peterborough in the United Kingdom. In an area of less than 220 acres (90 ha), Castor Hanglands contains a remarkable variety of plant and animal life.
Helpston railway station
Helpston railway station was a station in Helpston, Cambridgeshire on the Midland Railway's Syston and Peterborough Railway. It was closed in 1966. The Great Northern Railway main line runs adjacent to the Midland Railway at this point, but the Great Northern never had a station in Helpston.
Tallington railway station
Tallington railway station was a station in Tallington, Lincolnshire on the Great Northern Railway between Grantham and Peterborough. It was closed in 1959, however the former goods yard is still open and is used by the Dow-Mac works at Tallington for delivery of concrete beams, bridge supports, sleepers, etc. by rail. Bainton Gate railway station
Bainton Gate railway station was a short lived railway "station" now in Cambridgeshire on the Syston and Peterborough Railway serving the village of Bainton. It was located at the level crossing on the Bainton to Tallington road. The crossing keeper's cottage survives and is now a private house. According to The Syston and Peterborough website, this cottage doubled as the station building. The station closed on 1 August 1856.
