Coniston Water

Coniston Water (usually simply called Coniston locally) in Cumbria, England is the third largest lake in the English Lake District. It is five miles (8 km) long, half a mile (800 m) wide, has a maximum depth of 184 feet (56 m), and covers an area of 1.89 square miles . The lake has an elevation of 143 feet (44 m) above sea level. It drains to the sea via the River Crake.

Beacon Fell is a fell located in the southern Lake District of England with an altitude of 836 feet . It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. Geographically, the fell is located in the Blawith Fells to the west of the bottom end of Coniston Water. The fell is above Beacon Tarn and can be accessed from quiet paths off the main road from Water Yeat to Torver.

Woodland Fell

Woodland Fell is an upland area in the south of the English Lake District, south of Torver, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. Wainwright's route is a clockwise circuit from the hamlet of Woodland, and includes the summits of Yew Bank at 678 feet and Wool Knott at 730 feet, with Beacon Tarn (also visited on his Beacon Fell walk) between them.
