Ardmore Junction is a SEPTA trolley and bus station in the Haverford Township part of Ardmore, Pennsylvania. The 1981 U.S. Open was the 81st U.S. Open, held June 18–21 at the East Course of Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia. David Graham won his second major title and became the first Australian to win the U.S. Open, three strokes ahead of runners-up George Burns and Bill Rogers. After a first round 66, Jim Thorpe made history by becoming the first African-American to ever lead the U.S. Open.

The 1971 U.S. Open was the 71st U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 17–21, 1971, at the East Course of Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia. Lee Trevino won his second U.S. Open title by defeating Jack Nicklaus by three strokes in an 18-hole playoff. Twenty-one-year-old amateur Jim Simons shot a 65 in the third round, one off the tournament record, to take the 54-hole lead.
1950 U.S. Open (golf)
The 1950 U.S. Open was the 50th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 8–11, 1950, at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia. In what became known as the "Miracle at Merion," Ben Hogan won his second U.S. Open in an 18-hole playoff over Lloyd Mangrum and George Fazio, just 16 months after being severely injured in an automobile accident.
1934 U.S. Open (golf)
The 1934 U.S. Open was the 38th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 7–9, 1934, at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Olin Dutra overcame an eight-stroke deficit after 36 holes to edge Gene Sarazen by a stroke to win his first U.S. Open and second major championship. Bobby Cruickshank opened the tournament with a pair of 71s, and had a three-stroke lead over Sarazen at the midway point. Sarazen carded a 73 in the third round to take a one-shot lead over Cruickshank.
1958 PGA Championship
The 1958 PGA Championship was the 40th PGA Championship, played July 17–20 at Llanerch Country Club in Havertown, Pennsylvania. It was the first PGA Championship held in its current stroke play format, 72 holes over four days, ending on Sunday. The previous editions were at match play, with the two most recent ones at seven rounds over five days, the final three rounds at 36 holes per match.
