Bodorgan railway station
Bodorgan railway station serves the hamlet of Bodorgan and the village of Bethel on the Isle of Anglesey, Wales. The stop is an unmanned halt, and serves as a request stop for Chester and Holyhead-bound local trains along the North Wales coast. The station, which was originally to be called Trefdraeth, was opened in October 1849 and had a small signal box a small goods yard and a water tower. The goods yard closed in December 1964 but the station masters house remains.
Newborough Forest
Newborough Forest is a forest to the west of Newborough, Anglesey, North Wales. It is one of the most important red squirrel conservation sites in the United Kingdom. It appears increasingly likely that there are now only 500 red squirrels in Wales and numbers are continuing to decline. The whole area was mainly shifting sand dunes prior to 1947 when afforestation began.
Llys Rhosyr
Llys Rhosyr is an archaeological site near Newborough in Anglesey; the ruins of a pre-Edwardian commotal court. Llys Rhosyr was a commotal centre before the Edward I of Englands conquest of Wales and debate now surrounds the former use of the Rhosyr site. Archaeologists at Gwynedd Archaeological Trust consider it to have been a royal home and have established an exhibition in the Pritchard-Jones Institute in the village on their findings supporting this theory.
Malltraeth
Malltraeth (origin: Mall is a small village in the southwest of Anglesey, in the area of Bodorgan. It is now at the end of a large bay, which used to extend much further inland, almost creating a second sea strait in the area . After several abortive attempts, a 1 km-long 'cob' or dyke was completed across it during the 19th century, allowing land reclamation behind it.
Afon Cefni
Afon Cefni is one of the major rivers on the island of Anglesey, Wales. It is 16.9 kilometres long. The river starts at the Llyn Cefni in the centre of the island and then runs south through the county town of Llangefni. Just north of the A55 the river turns and flows south-west. It passes through the flatlands of the Malltraeth Marshes, where the river course was altered into canal in 1824.
Llangadwaladr
Llangadwaladr is a small village in south-west Anglesey, Wales, located around 2 miles east of Aberffraw and 3 miles south of Gwalchmai. It is part of the community of Bodorgan. The village's church (St Cadwaladr) is believed to have been a royal burial ground, and one of its windows dates from the 12th Century.
Bethel, Anglesey
Bethel is a relatively small and quiet village set centrally within the wider community and larger Parish of Bodorgan. The village is located inland (approximately three miles) from the south-western coast on the isle of Anglesey in North Wales.
St Beuno's Church, Trefdraeth
St Beuno's Church, Trefdraeth is a medieval parish church, in Anglesey, north Wales. Although one 19th-century historian stated that the first church on this location was established in 616, no part of any structure from that time survives; the oldest parts of the present building date from the 13th century. Alterations were made over the succeeding centuries, but few of them during the 19th century, a time when many other churches in Anglesey were being rebuilt or restored.
