Battle of Ancrum Moor
The Battle of Ancrum Moor was fought during the War of the Rough Wooing in 1545. The Scottish victory put a temporary end to English depredations in the Scottish border and lowlands. The battlefield has been inventoried and protected by Historic Scotland under the Historic Environment (Amendment) Act 2011.
Monteviot House
Monteviot House is the early 18th century home of the Marquess of Lothian, the politician better known as Michael Ancram. It is located on the River Teviot near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. Nearby are Ancrum, Bonjedward, the Timpendean Tower, Peniel Heugh, the Waterloo Monument, the Borders Abbeys Way and the St. Cuthbert's Way. In the late 20th century the 12th Marquess repurchased and restored the old family seat of Ferniehirst Castle.
Chesters estate
Chesters is a 1,565-acre country estate near Ancrum, located on the banks of the River Teviot in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. The estate includes a listed house, gardens and extensive grounds. National Grid Reference NT 60842 22512. The house was built by Thomas Ogilvie who purchased the estate in 1787. By 1790 it had been re- designed by local Borders architect William Eliot for Ovilvie.
Timpendean Tower
Timpendean Tower (tim-pen-deen) or Typenden Castle as it was once known, is a ruined 15th-century tower house near Lanton, around 1.5 miles north-west of Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders. It is built on rising ground between the River Teviot and the Jed Water. It is a simple tower structure measuring 29 feet by 24 feet with 4-foot-thick walls. It was a stronghold of the Douglas family.
Ancrum Old Parish Church
Ancrum Old Parish Church is situated just over half a mile north west of the village of Ancrum in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, on the B4600 road leading off the A68. The village of Ancrum is four miles north west of Jedburgh. The churchyard contains the burial ground for the local area. The old church is situated at grid reference NT621248, and the remains are protected as a Category B listed building.

The Ale Water is a tributary of the River Teviot, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. It rises at Henwoodie Hill and flows through Alemoor Loch. It meets the Teviot south of the village of Ancrum, and it runs through Ashkirk and Lilliesleaf. The river's name was originally "Alne", as in Alnwick.
