The A17 road is a road linking Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, England, to King's Lynn in Norfolk. It stretches for a distance of 100 kilometres travelling across the flat Fen landscapes of southern Lincolnshire and western Norfolk.
Newark Rural District
Newark was a rural district in Nottinghamshire, England from 1894 to 1974. It was formed by the Local Government Act 1894 from the Newark rural sanitary district. The district was long and thin, being far more distance from the far north to the far south than it was lengthwise, as much of the Newark RSD had been in Lincolnshire, and went to form the Claypole Rural District.

The A616 is a road which links Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, to the M1 motorway at Junction 30, then reappears at Junction 35A and goes on to Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. The road was originally ran continuously from Newark to Huddersfield, via Sheffield city centre. The section of route between the M1 Junction 30 and Sheffield was re-numbered A6135, and the route north-west of Sheffield largely renumbered the A6102.
