The community was founded by Quakers who arrived in the early 18th century searching for land where they could grow tobacco and corn. Hawlings River
Hawlings River is a 12.9-mile-long tributary of the Patuxent River in Montgomery County, Maryland. The watershed covers an area of about 28 square miles .
