Bontddu
Bontddu, Dolgellau, Gwynedd, Wales is a small settlement east of Barmouth. Local tourism information describes a popular walk in the area of Bontddu: 'follows the 100 metre contour line along the estuary to the East of Borthwnog. Directly behind us walk up into the RSPB (Garth Gell) reserve and on up toward Cwm Mynach and beyond to the wilds of the Harlech Dome.
Barmouth Bridge
The Barmouth Bridge is a single-track largely wooden railway viaduct that crosses the estuary of the Afon Mawddach river on the coast of Cardigan Bay between Morfa Mawddach and Barmouth in Gwynedd, Wales. A footbridge is incorporated on the landward side and pedestrians can walk by the side of the track across the river on payment of a toll of 90 pence (cycles 30 pence extra). The toll is the same for a single or same day return crossing. The distance is about 900 yards .

Fairbourne railway station serves the village of Fairbourne in Gwynedd, Wales. The station is on the Cambrian Coast Railway with passenger services to Barmouth, Harlech, Porthmadog, Pwllheli, Tywyn, Aberdovey, Machynlleth and Shrewsbury. The 12¼ inch gauge Fairbourne Railway has a separate station nearby from which narrow gauge trains run the 2 miles from Fairbourne to Barmouth Ferry (Penrhyn Point).
Arthog
Arthog is a village, post town and community in the Meirionnydd area in Wales. It is located on the A493, approximately 8 miles west of Dolgellau, and has a population of 1,010. It is well known for its outdoor activity centres and the nearby Llynnau Cregennen (Cregennen lakes). The Arthog Outdoor Education Centre is owned by Telford and Wrekin Council and is primarily used in term-time by schools from the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Local Education Authorities.
Friog
Friog is a small village in North Wales, near Fairbourne. Its lake and beach are a tourist attraction to over 1,000 visitors a year. Friog is notable for a rockfall-prone section of railway track, scene of two fatal accidents on the Aberystwyth and Welsh Coast Railway line.
Barmouth Ferry railway station
Barmouth Ferry railway station is the northern terminus of the Fairbourne Railway. The station overlooks the Mawddach estuary and offers good views of the Barmouth Bridge. The passenger ferry crosses the estuary to Barmouth. It is one of only a very few stations in Britain to be situated on a balloon loop, allowing trains to return with the engine pointing forwards without needing to uncouple and reverse the locomotive, or use a turntable.
Estuary Halt railway station
Estuary Halt is the newest halt on the Fairbourne Railway opening in late 2006. The station is close to the tunnel, car park, boat landing stages and beaches.
