Sunnyside Royal Hospital

Sunnyside Royal Hospital was a psychiatric hospital located in Hillside, north of Montrose, Scotland. The hospital was originally founded in 1781 by Susan Carnegie as the Montrose Lunatic Asylum, Infirmary & Dispensary and obtained a Royal Charter in 1810. The original building was situated on the Montrose Links on a site bounded by Barrack Road, Ferry Road and Garrison Road.

Luther Water

Luther Water is a generally southerly flowing river in Aberdeenshire, Scotland that discharges to the River North Esk; this watercourse rises in the Howe of the Mearns somewhat south of Drumelzie Forest. Draining chiefly agricultural lands, this stream has a notable lack of turbidity and a pH level of approximately 8.26 measured near the Mains of Luther. Turbidity has been measured at 70 centimetres by the Secchi disc protocol.

Marykirk

Marykirk is a small village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland next to the border with the county of Angus at the River North Esk. The village is approximately 6 miles ENE of Montrose at the southern end of the Howe of the Mearns. The road bridge carrying the A937 over the River North Esk is a substantial structure with four arches. It was designed by Robert Stevenson and completed in 1815 at the cost of £1,000 replacing the previous route to the village an ancient ford.
